And then, realising he’d just made himself look weak, so transparently rattled by protests aimed squarely at him, he pivoted on the spot and lied through his teeth, claiming he hadn’t even heard about any protests.

The backpedal was pathetic. He’d already said the quiet part out loud, already revealed how deeply the idea of protests against him had burrowed under his skin. And now he wanted to pretend it didn’t bother him, as if anyone was buying the act.

Classic Trump, authoritarian impulse first, clumsy cover-up second.

It was these exact words from Trump, that prompted the reporter to ask TACO Belle her question about protests during the parade that you posted as a limp and failed "boom".
