Canberra
Jun 8th, 2025 at 4:42pm

So, we are back, again.  TIB and I freezing our arses off, but this is what I wanted to experience.  A Canberra Winter.

So here I am typing away, inside a very well appointed and geared up house.

It is drizzling.

I am wearing five layers and the air con heat is on.  Comfy.

The fifth layer is my Clint Eastwood Pale Rider poncho.

We are here for maybe some months as Brother/SIL go caravansarai.

Looking forward to a dry day so I can fire up the outdoor, on balcony, fire pit.

Lovely.

The bastard who decided to put "Canberra" here needs to be dragged from their grave and permanently pilloried.

That is all.

You know that the site was deliberately chosen by Parkes, Barton etc. because it was a well known fact that British people and Europeans in general functioned better in cold climates, maintaining their drive and moral character, whereas the tropics quickly reduced Europeans to idleness and depravity.  Smiley

Chill out Aussie. It's not like you'll be there for years.
You probably will realise that wearing QLD thongs doesn't help.

Prick looks very fit.  I was surprised at that.

It was quite bizarre.  On the floor below are the portraits of PMs and I had just guffawed at Abbott's only to be ambushed by the prick one floor immediately above just a few minutes later!

We always can later think of someone better we should have said at a particular time.

When  Abbott turned up in the same spot I was in at PH, he first said, generally, to the almost empty room, "The criminal always returns to the scene of the crime." I came straight out with, "Yeah, but I see no manacles."

Wish I had said, "Only the dopey ones," but..........next time.

While it was fine to see in real life and watch all the children send little notes to each other, you get a better 'view' on TV.

Like him or not, one thing you have to concede with Chris Bowen.  He is across his Brief, and speaks without notes, with data at his fingertips.
