It’s a green capsicum … white onion… and I use edgell brand can beans

And yes a lot of sugar.
I tried varying the quantities but if you want the exact taste of the bean salad you remember then do it as it says. There’s only one substitute I do, I use olive oil instead.
Oh, and….you can use stevia or xylitol instead of sugar.
And…. It actually does taste better next day if you let it sit overnight in the fridge.
Since I’ve made this…. It’s now in the menu request list from family! Cool

I just checked:

A "No. 2" can has a diameter of 3 7/16 inches and a height of 4 9/16 inches, with a capacity of 20.55 fluid ounces or 2 1/2 cups. This size is commonly used for canned fruits, vegetables, and other food items.

The wax beans are those yellow ones:

That’s a more modern version of the kfc recipe. But… I might try it with the wax beans next time… Once I’m back home do Sunday… I will take a pic of the recipe I printed out. I can’t find that particular online anymore. Funny how that happens.

Oh perrrrlease - Bean Salad????

Mid 70's playing Rugby League in my town our end of year footy trip was over to Eurong Beach on Fraser Island where we stayed at the Eurong Resort owned by a sponsor at the time.

The cook there was named Max - and you could bet your left one that at every meal including breakfast there would be bean salad.

We gave him the nick name 3 Bean Max.

He's been in a TV series called Blue Bloods from 2010 to 2024.
