Jailing kids just teaches them that you've given up on them and teaches to become better criminals.

For repeat offenders or offenders of serious crime, they should set up programs and send them to work on a remote outback station for 6 months, no contact with mates or family except for snail mail to family, where they are taught about respect and responsibility. Until they learn both, they stay there. If they break the law again, repeat ... this time for 12 months minimum. If they continue on a life of crime after that, then lock them up

Most - especially those this legislation is aimed at have already become better criminals ..... & many of them haven't even been inside.

Now where did they learn their trade?

Our Gaols have become havens for more crime to cultivate within them. The human rights of Leftism has turned out Gaols into softie punishment. The Gaol is meant to be harder than the Prisoners, not the other way around.
These days, Prisoners have much 'stimulations', from being able to enact violence on other prisoners, to raping them, cigarettes, weed, mobile phones, outdoor gyms, basketball and even Uni degrees.
It's a farce! More like a holiday resort for the wicked. They must be laughing at the public. All the creature comforts like fresh 18 year old meat brought in so the likes of Travis and the Murphy's can get first pick now that they're established high in the hierarchy of Scum Lords.

Prisons, Gaols, Dungeons main core punishment is to remove all stimulation via isolation in a cell. Sight, sound, activity. You take a person's life. You do time, being voided of all facets of life like being thrown in a void of nothingness itself. It's so bad, you would relish getting outside chipping rocks like Nelson Mandela.

Seems the human rights of Prisoners comes before that of the human rights of society.

"If a kid comes at you with a gun in hand - are you suggesting we do not shoot him?"

The Making Queensland Safer (Adult Crime, Adult Time) Amendment Bill 2025 provides for an additional 20 Adult Crime, Adult Time offences, including attempted murder, rape, attempted rape, torture, aggravated attempted robbery, trafficking in dangerous drugs, and endangering a police officer when driving a motor vehicle.

Sure, society protected from gun violence, no issue there. Thing is, for a child to get a gun suggests lax gun laws.

My main issues are
1. trafficking in dangerous drugs. Children trafficing are probably doing so to feed a drug addiction. Jailing a child for an addiction is overkill.
More like remedial treatment - with better food tan 'outside'.

2. endangering a police officer when driving a motor vehicle. Racial profiling would mean any dark skin child behind a wheel will be jailed.
Rubbish.  If a dark skin child is behind a wheel he is already breaking the law.

Children in jail will result in recidivism. That's a waste of life and a massive longterm cost on society.
Not being actioned for wrongdoing will definitely result in recidivism - and some will come out of their term changed people - they are not in adult prisons until they turn eighteen.

Pretty much everything said is wrong, false and deliberately misleading.  Kid who end up in juvie are the worst offenders and serial and repeat offenders - don;t tell me their term inside will make them into criminals - they already are.

They haven't become - they have always been.

The only alternative is that you let all criminals run free & do what they like........... No?

No - they get locked up.

What should happen is that if their crimes are serious enough they forfeit all rights ... and do "hard" time.

Do some sightseeing in our Gaols, like I have. Junee prisoners look 'happy'. There is no hard time.
The British used real hard time methods here.
Now, our Gaols have become more like the American versions.
I'm talking the general incarceration a more than the stricter maximums... which still allow Prisoners a level of stimulating freedoms.

It's not even remotely true.

It's just a bs wank response for the sake of making a response.

Jail should be hard labor - breaking rocks into gravel for the roads using a pick.

Apparently using Convicted labour is against human rights here.
Plus, the Govt doesn't want people in chains seen by public.

so everyone can see them.

Americanised Australians will claim British Convict labour is stealing their overpayed work. Fixing a road in Australia cost x3 as it does in Europe and x5 as much as most other countries. Go figure.
