Every shopping center has security guards but they are unarmed. Where did they go during all of this? So - they like machetes? How many how hanging out with hidden machetes inside their jackets and perhaps walk right past you and you don't notice?

Maybe we need more security at shopping centers?

How about those metal detector arches that would pick
up anyone carrying a knife or gun into the place?
When I was in LA – the nightclubs had those at the door -
it was like airport security to get inside.
However they did have armed guards – with pistols in holsters -
around the arches in case someone did produce a knife or gun -
but we don't have any armed guards at our shopping centers at all.
I can sort of understand why -
apart from being expensive you wouldn't want a shootout
in such a densely packed place and that is plausible
when trying to stop someone who is armed from entering.

If the magistrates would lock them for
their first offences it might help.
Some of them are already back on the street on bail. WTF?

Right-wing activists have held a protest outside a Melbourne shopping centre where African gang violence exploded last week and prompted the fast-tracking of a ban on machete sales.

About 30 members of the National Socialist Network (NSN), all in black masks or balaclavas, stood in front of Northland Shopping Centre in Preston on Saturday night with a banner saying “Ban n*ggers, not machetes”.

Video of the demonstration shows the black-clad activists chanting “White man, fight back” three times while lined up under the Northland sign.

Northland was put in lockdown at about 2.30pm last Sunday after a clash between rival gangs, and disturbing images of an African thug wielding a machete sparked public outrage.

Unless in the hands of a human being a machete is an inanimate object.

People weaponise it(certain types of people) - those people have to be dealt with harshly.

Criminals still acquire guns.

Machetes should not be banned - anywhere.

They are a useful garden tool & for cutting scrub & clearing tall grasses.

Next it will be our garden cane knives.
