These are NOT the norm - they apply to a few select ones - and that in itself is sufficient reason to sink the whole thing.  It is inequity writ large to give some the absolute privilege of not paying to go to work as the vast majority continue to have to do.

MEN - no more than women - had access to higher education.... unless they were well off or at least had a solid family that was prosperous or were VERY fortunate and got a scholarship or a job that paid for tuition.

Sonny - I had the highest IQ in my school's A class, tested at a time when I and siblings were starved rats ....finished final year at fifteen... was on my own in life on next to zero income from sixteen... I joined up at seventeen and the Army gave me three meals a day and my first god pair of shoes..... and I'm not even black!!
