people given the TEMPORARY privilege of working from home during a crisis...

Gawd! Thank god you lot are out of power now.

You've become your own grandfathers - the ones who, no doubt, bitched in the 60s about how much 'kids nowadays all need a bloody car to get around... in moi day, we shank's ponyed it, or waited for a bus'.

The fact is, the workforce and demography of the country have changed over the last 50 years when Boomers were all in their youth.

Here in 21st-century Australia, the result of nearly 50 years of encouraging the nation's daughters to achieve higher education and to pursue careers, has meant that women need incentives to sacrifice 10 good years of their youth to child rearing without sacrificing career aspirations.

Being able to work from anywhere goes some way to aiding that end.

Or would you have it that Boomers refusing to die off, thus locking Millennials and Zoomers out of the property market, should also deny them work-life balance?

Utter rubbish struck through.  Clearly you way of not thinking is the root cause of this country going downhill so fast.

I'm not one of 'you lot'.  Or any other 'lot'.

Why is it that you imagine it is a right to work from home, when it was only a short term privilege during a crisis?  It is not an 'end' of business to provide a meaningful way of life for employees - they do that on their own time.

On top of that - it is an unfair thing since not all can work from home - so those who cannot now require a pay rise to make up for costs of actually going to work, just to make it all even, ay?  that includes doctors, nurses, coppers and firies and all others who can't 'work from home'.  Extra pay rise coming for them and for those who DO go to the office!!

'Nation's daughters' - what about the nation's sons?  Or have you forgotten them in your imaginary castle surrounded by princesses?   what makes you imagine the 'nation's daughters' who demand EQUALITY - should be handed total liberties on how they work?

Did you read any of the actual 'studies' stuff I put up before putting up your typical half-brained thoughts?

If the poor widdle girls can't hack it in the kitchen - you know what they can do. Wait until it really hits the fan one day.

You are raving again about 'boomers' - go and kick your aging granny out of her home then, idiot..

You're an old fart like your grandfathers became for those having to listen to them c~nt on about 'how the youth have it too good, these days'... remebering the days when your grandmothers and their daughters were confined to child-rearing and house duty while your granfathers and their sons left home for work digging ditches.

You're an anachronism now, like your grandfathers became in the '60s and '70s.

What?! Are you a f~cking idiot?

The technology for working remotely was being developed and built over the last 30 years... how do you think it was so achievable for so many so quickly?

Prior to the pandemic, many were already working from home (or anywhere); it was merely democratised by the pandemic, not invented.

Short-term privilege, eh! Like income tax was once a short-term burden... No more short-term, or special, privilege than driving for pleasure was in the 50s.

From an irrelevant codger who bitches about 'too much immigration' required to make up the shortfall due to the loss of local brithrates from 2.1 to below 1.5... and dropping.

No - YOU are a smacking idiot.

It doesn't matter that the 'technology' for SOME work from home was developing - it is not and never will be the be-all and end-all - and most jobs require a presence in the office for the simple reasons that people on deck are what is required - not people off in connection-land and not being instantly available.

I know one highly placed lady in Treasury - woman of course these days  Roll Eyes been working from home since all she has to do is 'attend a few meetings' and participate in making a few decisions (blah, blah, blah) at  some monstrous six figure salary and perks - and all the time - a hundred miles away from Canberra - she's renoing the house and working on the investment portfolio oinstead of working for real.

So your fanciful idea - in reality - means that we need to do a Trump and divest ourselves of those empty hand workers who are often overly duplicated time and again anyway ...

Is this another one of those nutty social science professor ideas being test driven across Australia?

The 'technology' cannot take away the need to be at the coal face in any REAL job, where you are paid to be,.

'democratised' - HTF is it 'democratised' when the MAJORITY of people cannot do it?  That makes it a privilege for a few and one really only applicable to jobs that don't actually require much effort.

Didn't you hear?  One woman cannot serve two masters!  If she's forced to choose between staying home and working - that's the end of it, and the immediate effects on unemployment and the economy and homelessness and housing prices (you really haven't kept up with The Old Master over the years, have you, kid?) would be like a breath of fresh air.

False equivalence and actually backwards - just like your thinking.

Where did you get the idea that taxation was only temporary?  Even you must know that 'taxation is the art of removing as many feathers from the goose as possible with the least squawking'.

You young jerks really need to get out more and get your heads out of the internet and all the namby-pamby sh
i
t you are being fed from day one at pre-school.

Contrary to 'encouraging' women for fiffty years - women have been FORCE FED onto every possible thing, from school education on up, in the name of 'creating equality' - now - when they are literally taking over via affirmative action and NOT on merit and ability - your biggest whine is that they might have to endure going back to work in the office.

How DARE You?

Now YOU - boy know-all - which particular group do YOU want to be mandated over 50% of seats in our 'democratic' parliament?

What if we make it the Neo-Nazis instead of the Feminazis?  That make you just as happy?  What about Muslims?  Or - I know - let's make a Third House in our democratic parliament based entirely on the RACE of 3% of the population and call anyone who says NO a racist!  Why not just mandate EVERY demographic in the nation to possess - by divine right - a percentage number of seats in our 'democratic' parliament?  F
u
ck the voters - who do they think they are?

Maybe we should mandate that MEN must receive AT LEAST 50% of winnable seats.... how would you swallow that one?

Talk about the White Knights talking backwards.  You dumb-ass REAL Neo-Nazis are ruining this country and are imagining that every HARM you do is good and right - but I'm not asleep.

You dick-weeds would make excellent gulag guards - you have no idea of reality, morality, reason and equality.

How many politicians and their ilk partake in interviews with the media (local and world), and conduct state/national business from their homes? All of them? Of course they do.

How many millionaires/billionaires run their entire operations without offices at all? Nearly all of them? You bet.

How many rural people now have access to higher education and job opportunities without having to leave their rural towns and lives behind? Millions worldwide? Of course.

How many people can now study partially or completely from home? Tens of millions? For sure.

Public-interacting jobs were never on the slate to be done remotely - although given wars can now be conducted remotely, how long before trucks and operations in, say, mine sites will be managed remotely?... already happening as we speak, actually.

Face it, you're irrelevant to the 21st century.

Billionaires/millionaires are not jobs.  Bye-bye.  They have flunkies to do the work out of offices for them.

Receiving education is not a job... thanks for coming.

I've done quite a few courses - some of them also had requirements to BE at the uni at certain times... there is NO comparison with studying at your own pace and in your own chosen time slots to suit the rest of your life and working in - say - an office during business hours.

Shocked  Shocked  Shocked

How long before it will be possible for all medical general practitioners' services will be completely conducted remotely?

Some surgeries can already be conducted remotely.

The tyranny of distance has been defeated by remote working.

A person can now live in a regional area hundreds of Ks from the city they work in, thus easing the pressure on overpopulated cities.

You're stupid and blind as an old c~nt.

Most millionaires/billionaires don't have offices for most administrative staff they hire as it is. They might get a laptop... they can work and live almost anywhere in the world... heard of digital nomads?

Face it, you're irrelevant to the 21st century.

So that those who make them can make a huge profit - not because they want to give their workers more time off.... which they will have anyway when they have no job.

They promised us all more time on the beach - they just didn't mention Nevil Shute in that statement ....

But what you and they fail utterly to realise is that without people employed to DO THEIR JOB properly and exactly as required as they are PAID to do, there is no economy to buy their robotics and no taxation for government to do so.  The whole thing breaks down and the streets are filled with skeletons starved to death and wandering aimless robots.

Robotics are designed and built to do specific tasks ON THE JOB - not to provide opportunity for people to work from home.

**knock, knock**

"Who's there!"

"Robotic Messenger from work!"

"Took you long enough - the market has collapsed."

"But you could not be contacted by phone or internet, Master.  And the distance by road and train is far."

"That's because the market was collapsing... oh ........... buggar... a Franz Kafka moment....."

"What's the message then?"

"Your job has been taken by a robot."

**shik-shik BOOM!**

Or not having to commute to an office, thus saving tens of millions collectively in commuting.

And then a permanent job working remotely for a company legally located hundreds or thousands of Ks from where you live.

So, advancing robotics to make profits... like, building robots for the sake of building robots, eh!

Have another swig...

'collectively'  ....   Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin   SOME will save by not doing their job fully - most won't.  MOST will still have to go to work - bloody peasants .....

Edits:-  "have another swig"  - now I KNOW you're beaten and getting desperate.  I haven't started on you yet.....

" building robots for the sake of building robots, eh!" ... DUH - building robots for the sake of making money.... no social conscience involved in any way  - even you're not that stupid - but you are getting desperate.  Not doing too well with white knighting for 'Australia's daughters' now, are you?  Go - tell it to the people in Tent Cities that they should accept their new Feminist masters and live in a world where they will be forever poor since it is all run by robots.

And creating the very Inequality they say they are preventing - by according to some the privilege of saving on not having to travel etc while the MAJORITY can NEVER achieve that benefit, thuse perpetuating and increasing the economic divides across OUR 'advanced' Civilised Tribes societies.

Let's ask dividie how his Outback Abos are going to cope with your Brave New World..... do you ever think beyond square one?  The streets lined with corpses of once workers starved to death will not produce the manna from heaven they are used to in government handouts.

Life is a chess game, Grasshopper .. you must not only see things in several dimensions but also be a few steps ahead.

Your fabled 'robotic technology' has a limit..... once it goes past a certain point there is no return for humanity ... short of the utter demolition of robotics.

You mad or something?   PEOPLE, sonny - PEOPLE!!  You 'lefties' whinge and whine about how poor and down-trodden are those who've been literally lifted out of their shitholes to be here , including women given affirmative action starting from pre-school these days - people who come here and get degrees!!!!  Something they could NEVER imagine 'back home' -  and yet you play the victim game for all of them while calling your own nasty names ....... and yet when it comes to REAL people being hurt to make way for your Great Socialist Revolution............... remember YOU left Australia's sons out of it and hate on Old White Men and 'boomers' .................................. all you can do (you ungrateful little arsehole) is hope and pray that your Elders die off and that the boys just bend over and take it up the ass so your 'daughters' can enjoy the primest in the land without the effort or sacrifice.

Everything you use and enjoy is the product of THEIR work and sacrifice.....  and you don't give one sh
i
t about those you harm along the way to your magic kingdom in your head.

Nope - equal treatment demands back to the office for ALL of them.
