I bet Victoria and the other ALP States soon turn Liberal.
Federal serves the International.
States serve Australia.

Lol

The Libs will need to move close to the centre to have a chance at that.

Those areas are generally too educated to fall for bullshit they're currently peddling, as evidenced by the election result.

Laura Tingle makes some good points on the national partys standing their 'high ground on principles'

Quote:
The Nationals argued this week that they were taking a stand on high principle — or at least on four demands. These were: support for nuclear power; a $20 billion fund for the regions; breaking up the powers of the big supermarkets; and improved regional telecommunications guarantees.

Think about the origins of some of these policies. We can never be grateful enough to LNP senator Matt Canavan for putting on the public record that the Coalition's support for nuclear power was only ever designed to get them out of a tight spot on emissions reductions while it continued to support coal-fired power.

And its "die on a hill" support for this noble principle this week had dissipated to a possible fallback position of "it would just be nice to get rid of the moratorium on nuclear" by week's end.

As one Coalition source noted this week, no-one had heard of the $20 billion regional future fund until about four weeks ago (though there had been a similar fund pledged by Scott Morrison in government as a way of getting the Nats to sign up to net zero… which of course they also have talked about dumping).

The powers of supermarkets? Yeah, well that's been going on for a while as an issue with no clear path to being fixed, despite numerous parliamentary and regulatory inquiries about it.

And improved regional communications? Really? Yes, it might be important. But it was something upon which the Nationals — and particularly Barnaby Joyce — blackmailed John Howard about 20 years ago with some success, in terms of pushing Telstra to lift its game.

But does anyone remember the Nats talking about this issue in any conspicuous way in more recent times?

Barely a peep on any of those issues in the 9 years the libs/nats were in govt ... now that they're in opposition it's a matter of principle for them?  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

The nats think they need to go further right as they won most of their seats back whilst all the cities unanimously rejected the right wing position ... they're on completely different pages and have been for at least a decade and that won't be changing together or not

the 4 policy issues the nats are claiming are a 'matter of principle' are just an excuse. They don't give a poo about any of those issues. If they did you would have at least heard about them in their 9 yrs in govt, or in the 3 years in opposition prior to the election campaign ... but hardly a peep. Suddenly they're a matter of principle? It's like you said, the nats cannot afford to any move to the center.

The only question now is are the current national MP's more concerned with their current pay packets and perks? Or is the partys future their priority? Only time will tell.

It’s hard to believe Littleproud is still there.

For any chance for Nationals to be taken and vaguely seriously he needs to just step down.

The only future for the Nationals is a coalition with one nation.

The liberals should be happy too be rid of them!

I reckon he's banging Bridgette.
She's pulling his strings so she can join the mass female movement under Albanese.

If Bridget dumps Littledick and becomes National Leader.
Then it's female leaders in Libs, Nationals and Greens under a female stacked ALP with Mommy's Boy Albanese above them all.

Something really fishy is going on in Australian politics beyond just the Parties.
...real fishy.
