She always seemed to be way out of her depth, like a deer trapped in the headlights. I don't feel that she inspired much by the way of confidence either. It would seem those sentiments are shared by her fellow officers. The sooner she is gone and replaced by someone competent, the better.

Both my sons are NSW police officers - the older son is a sergeant and has worked with Karen Webb prior to her being appointed Commissioner.

Basically he says she's done some good things - but she's stuffed up quite a lot on others.

It seems to have been a diversity pick, but on the other hand, Mick Fuller wasn't much better as the previous Commissioner.

Not specifically directed at Webb - but it will be a great thing once these diversity things disappear forever.

Nick Kaldas should be hired as the new Commissioner forthwith.

Except he is no longer a member of the NSW Police Force.

He has his own consultancy business and does a lot of work for the govt.  Also headed up a Royal Commission into vet deaths and suicides.

Nothing wrong with bringing in a trained outsider.... might shed some new light on the force.... use the force, Nick!!  With all due respect - I think it does work better when men are in charge ... look at the Lindt siege.

You ever been in combat, son?  You don't get to go home for a sleep and a hot meal... bit of TV, pat the dog, and have it off with the 'other'.... I'm sure you can't handle the truth... but it's coming anyway.

Forget about bringing in an outsider.  It's been done before with disastrous results!

Back when my older son joined the police, it was a force but quickly became a complete shambles!  Labor had got in and the Labor premier brought out a Brit to take over the job as Police Commissioner.  That was Peter Ryan!  He quickly set about turning the NSW Police Force into a police service!  He brought in British style policing which just didn't hack it down here.  He would have liked to have taken their guns from them if he could but he would have had a riot on his hands.  He ignored all the Vietnamese drug gangs out in Cabramatta.  He had the audacity to state that Roseville - on the leafy Upper North Shore where he now lived - was more criminal than Cabramatta in the south west of Sydney where drugs were openly dealt on Cabramatta railway station by the Vietnamese gangs!! Where heroin addicts openly shot up in the streets and on the railway platform!  And he stopped the good detectives from arresting these Vietnamese drug dealers because Labor was all for multiculturalism.  And henceforth you can't upset the immigrants, minorities and refugees.

One of the good, honest detectives who ignored these instructions and continued to arrest these drug dealers wrote a book about it.  He lost his job because he would not ignore crime that was being so blatantly carried out on the streets of Cabramatta.  His name was Tim Priest and he was the son of the RSL President Rusty Priest.

But Commissioner Ryan had this crazy idea and his Labor bosses agreed, that if you don't arrest these crims, then there aren't any records ... and amazingly, if there are no records, then it follows there isn't any crime!!  Can you honestly believe that?  Also there were some corrupt police who were getting a cutback from these crims and he didn't want to highlight that!  He was an absolute lunatic!

It was the worst of times to be in the Police "service."  Rank and file police finally rebelled ... and it was then reduced to just NSW Police.  But then fittingly, Labor was ditched at the next state election.  And the Libs got back in and NSW Police once again became a Force!  And a force to be reckoned with!

NSW Police are the only ones who have a force on their badges.
