Campervan Suggestions
May 5th, 2025 at 4:54pm

Anyone got a campervan?

I'm looking for suggestions.

Something like this looks okay (although it has a few K's on the clock):

https://www.caravancampingsales.com.au/items/details/2018-talvor-adventure-5-3m-...

It's a Toyota, which is a bonus.

I just need it for me (and a guitar or two).

Interested in your thoughts.

Just make sure it has air con

175 000 km's is nothing for a toyota diesel ... if you look after it you'll get to a million kms' before that thing dies.

We are thinking of selling our caravan and buying a small Winibago type motor home.
The size is important so it can put in a car park at shops or anywhere there is parking.
Motor homes are spacious but compact. Don’t need a special truck type licence, and I like auto transmission.
There’s room for 2 double beds, one on top of drivers cab, and the other can be made up from dining seats/table area.
So that’s our dream at moment.
A nice one is a Suzuki elf.

Yea good idea but… not always safe to assume hotel or caravan parks have vacancy for areas you travel in and some seasons are busier than others.
We found that out when doing road trips.
And it’s not getting cheaper to stay at motels, average price is around $180 - $220 per night.
And…. You still need a vehicle to travel in, so that motel money can go towards the camper can fuel instead.

Oh and another good idea Greggy…. Is a small portable generator. If you like to camp off grid, that helps with charging stuff etc. just handy to have rather than use car battery up.

Never had a camper van but bought a new off road caravan  for retirement. Oz Track. took it to FNQ over a couple of weeks and left it in Laura. Crock got the landlord of the place recently. Went to the top end and stayed in Weipa to look after our Daughters dog whilst she holidayed in Canada. Back to Laura found out the battery charger had cooked the batteries because it was set for Lithium charge rates not gel sel. Unit 6 months old no replacement unless we took it back to base, 1900klms. All freezer food wasted. Our tow vehicle Mitsubishi Pajero used 21lts per 100 klm towing normal 9lts/100klm. Camp sites in the winter in FNQ can go to $80 a night add the extra cost of fuel to that and motels compare to camping,
End story sold the van got all our money back. Going to Europe next year,
