That's the excuse now?

What will you change it to when Trump's actions break that thread you're clinging onto?

Oh I see what's happening.  Trump has been accused of stepping back from the tariffs, using the language "stepping back" and like "TDS" you lot are trying to own that for yourself.

Hahaha...

There is no bigger tell that reality is starting to get under your skin than these sorts of tactics.

It's must be increasingly hard to be a Trump supporter given the cowardice, corruption, infighting and incompetence that has become commonplace in his administration in such an astonishingly short time.

The TDS is strong in JaSin, Frannie and Leroy   Smiley

So enjoyable watching them tie themselves in knots trying to defend the indefensible.

Calling it how it is isn't hysterics Frannie.  You've just lost touch with reality so it seems that way vs the version you've convinced yourself is real so you don't have to question your blind devotion to Trump.

It's just your own version of RF.

Trumpet man now says it was his plan all along  Roll Eyes
Is that his excuse for realising an error and back flipping?
Bad bad business that. Lack of respect/integrity.

Are we all supposed to pat him on the back now?
I bet my bottom crypto dollar he and his family made a lot of money from creating a downfall to buy into  it.
“Now’s a good time to buy” he announced on media… everyone saying wtf is he talking about?
Then without giving much warning pauses the tarrifs.

He plays stupid games and I don’t respect that mentality.

I did mention earlier it was probably a slap and tickle manoeuvre, I heed to listen to my hunches better!

Trump won't be in power for very long. His successor will be in a good position to negotiate whatever trade deals Trump does not do himself. China is the only likely hold-out.

Your quote does not appear to distinguish between short and long term impact. Obviously there is no denying a short term negative impact, as it has already happened.

Hi FD. How is it possible to obtain a positive long term impact when the rest of the world is responding with reciprocal tariffs?

That's a question. Up for an answer?

That's not how the rest of the world is responding. Many countries are offering to remove tariffs and subsidies. Trump may tip the balance in countries that have always been politically hamstrung in their efforts to remove subsidies. I am hoping it brings about the end to farming subsidies in particular. I think the US and the EU have a lot of them.

The CCP would obviously prefer to crap on it's own plate than negotiate with Trump, but hopefully they end up isolated as a result.

I see. So you're hoping DL's tariffs bring about an end to US agriculture subsidies, are you?

Strange. During DL's first term, he paid all the money he collected in tariffs out in increased farm subsidies. Why didn't he just not do tariffs to begin with?

And a supplementary if I may: if DL has all these secret aims for tariffing us, why doesn't he just say what they are?

Wouldn't you think the first tactic in a negotiation is to say what it is you want?

And another, if you're really into free trade and everything, why do you support the biggest tax on trade since the reign of Queen Victoria?

Cheers.

Try.

No. It's not the (or my) excuse now. I've been posting this will happen on here for over a decade.

It's a game of Poker over a Golden Fleece and the the bids are just getting higher and higher (inflation) and Britain has already cashed it's chips in with Brexit and now Trump is doing the same. Australia should do the same. Let the idiots keep playing the game like China, Russia and France to name some. I guess some keep betting for fear of losing face and we know that Gambling can become an addiction for those who don't know when to say No.

All good. So let's try. When asked by Maria Bartiromo on Fox Business why he was doing tariffs, DL said, and I quote, because we can.

When pushed on this, asking why he was tariffing Canada, a country he entered into a free trade agreement with, he said, because they're nasty.

That's all. If you have any additional explanation, dear chap, do feel free to provide it here.

If you'd prefer to throw a Paki hissy, you're free to do that too.
