But not politicians?

Safety concerns force Tony Burke to abandon plan to address western Sydney prayer event

The home affairs minister, Tony Burke, was forced to leave a Muslim prayer event in western Sydney due to security concerns after protesters turned up intent on telling the local MP he was “not welcome”.

Burke said the Australian federal police advised him to leave after becoming aware of the messages and of additional attenders.

Brian do you consider it a celebration of freedom of speech when Muslims force a politician to withdraw from a speaking engagement he was invited to because the AFP have reason to fear for his safety? Is this what you mean when you say Ramadan brings people together?

Starving yourself during work hours is counter-intuitive to your body's health. Not having water during most of the day - especially whilst working in summer - is stupid and can cause severe medical problems with dehydration. Mussos say they fast so they can experience what it's like to go hungry and to be in empathy with the poor.  Except at sundown they all go off and feast like a bunch of effing starved lunatics.

And what about their duties at work??  When I worked for mussos, we had quite a few "incidents" in the factory concerning the musso process workers during production.  When the machines are moving, you have to be alert!  On one occasion I remember, one of the mussos almost fainted during Ramadan and that almost caused him to lose his hand in the machine.  It was only the fast reflexes of one of the other production workers to switch off the machine in time. As it was, the guy almost lost his hand, the skin was torn and bleeding profusely and the boss asked ME!! to take him to the Indian doctor nearby.  I refused because I didn't want my car full of blood! But he had to go to the Indian doctor because -

1.  He was working here whilst on a tourist visa!  Which he had overstayed for months!

2.  He was therefore not covered by workers compensation!

3.  There would be hell to pay if SafeWork investigated!!

So, the Indian doctor would just do what he had to do to stop the bleeding and stitch up his hand.  Give medications for infection etc.  And be paid triple in cash with no questions asked I assume.

This was the apparent "understanding" they had with this doctor.

The thing is, Brian hasn't got a clue about mussos.

Going without food for a day is nothing. Without water - depends entirely on the conditions. Islam came from the desert, so a pretty stupid idea. But they were probably used to being dehydrated. I don't think you are supposed to work. You are supposed to listen to a sermon.

For some reason they like to do it out in the sun. Plenty of soggy fields for them to sit in round here.

Do you think 9/11 was also a celebration of free speech, and Muslims were just "sending a message"?

What about the stabbing of Salman Rushdie? Just another way of expressing yourself freely with a knife?

Would you say that 9/11 was a good thing for bringing people of different cultures together, on the ground floor?
