Anybody can set up a surveillance camera overlooking your front or back yards and you cannot stop it.
All you can do is put in place natural or artificial privacy screens to block the line of sight of your neighbor’s spy camera.
This really sucks.
The arseholes across the road from me have set up such a camera. The son came to my place and showed me a screen shot: it showed part of their block but mainly it showed my house and my neighbor’s houses in very clear crisp detail. Obviously, the image of any of the houses could be zoomed as desired for whatever reason.
I did some googling. People can set up a camera and spy on you and your land.
What can you do? Plant a fast growing hedge or put up a high fence is about it. Sucks!
There are illegal ways—shining a laser full onto the lens of the surveillance camera to damage or destroy it. The camera will spot you before you destroy it
IR lights and strobes might be a better defence. Also—dummy cameras can be bought cheaply, $29 from Amazon and mounted as a pretence counter-offensive. Further, films can be applied to windows to prevent the camera looking into our houses. I intend to apply this film to the front bedroom and my front door’s glass panels.
Why the bedroom? Would YOU want your neighbor to put together a history of when you retire, when you get up in the night etc? Friends visiting?
But we have NO right to privacy!
I put this here so our legal eagle can comment.
