Over a decade of liberal party flip flopping on energy policy left energy companies unclear on where to invest in the future. These price hikes are a result of this

It will take another decade for labors good work to come through.

Grin Perish the thought.

In the mean time it will only take 7 years to build a nuclear power station.

One upon a time in the mist-riddled past of a land called Oz, energy suppliers were the government and all prospered instead of the parasites sitting at the top of their new privatised ventures... families and businesses could afford power and the nation grew as one and prospered generally as a result instead of far too much money and power increasingly concentrated into fewer and fewer hands... the culture had its faults - but the 'culture' that superseded it has no merits...

Time to take back the asylum ...

By the time a decade has passed - much of the 'renewables' will be up for replacement - renewal, you understand... clearly renewable in that they have to be replaced regularly.... to someone's perpetual profit cycle...

Just like super - all the raving and carrying on about its failure - without ever addressing the real issues involved, and adopting The Grappler Scheme - FIST - Federal INDEPENDENT Superannuation Trust - under one roof one size fits all by the same rules and conditions and a pile of money thus becoming available for loans to states and feds to generate REAL infrastructure and employment and such and a REAL future for Oz - it is now so entrenched in its 'diversity' that benefits some massively while most get BA - Buggar All - being on part-time casual over a lifetime or being in Tent Cities - that it is an absolute catastrophe benefiting some far to much and others not at all while leaving the country bust.

Clearly the Program is to create as many social divides as possible so as to guarantee the rise and rise of the New Elites - who have zero real interest in the common herd battling to make ends meet... the coming Neo-Serfs who will come to the castle gates to beg for a crust in the snow drifts.... and see the gates closed in their faces.

The wholesale prices or electricity spot prices tell you a different story. The daytime rates are -2 cents/Kw and when the sun goes down its around 7cents/Kw. It may spike for about 5mins for a few dollars, about three times in a 30day period. So why are we forced to pay 45 to 59 cents/kw all the time?   Think about the GST that sleasy picks up, and think of the 1000's of shops,1000's factories 1000's of houses etc all paying $1/per day, daily supply charge to these power companies who do nothing but collect millions of free cash and free energy!..They are all legal thieves. People are fooled by electricity prices. In the late eighties I worked in a coal fired power station and it cost 2c per k/w for us to produce. The consumer paid 9c after adding on cost of management. So the actual cost of producing was 22.2% of the full cost delivered. The other 78% was in supply.

The supply of coal fired electricity was cheap because you had very small infrastructure, 5 or 6 stations in a relatively small area so less transmission lines. One central control room run by a few workers could manage distribution and supply efficiently with few hiccups.

Today's market, the cost of managing distribution and supply has increased massively, so the major cost in your electricity bill the 78% bit is the one pushing up your electricity bills and not the cost of producing electricity.

People stupidly think coal powered electricity costs more to make because they pay more for coal power, you pay more for coal powered electricity because when renewables are not available the sellers of coal can ask for higher prices. There is a price difference what you pay for power and what the cost to produce actually is. Most people don't understand that and are easily swayed by fast talking politicians.
