Where is the money coming from?  Cheesy

A failed airline (REX) now a failed steelworks.  Shocked

PM announces $2.4bn for Whyalla steelworks

The prime minister told the workforce he knows “it’s been a difficult time for you.”

What we have done is to combine dollar for dollar on administration, to make sure that while the transition is going to make sure that the steelworks keep operating, you keep being paid, the people who are owed debts – some of those small businesses here in Whyalla – get paid.

In addition, the two governments would invest $2.4bn to “make sure that this transition occurs”, he said.

We regard that as an investment in our nation, we don’t regard it as a cost. Because when you invest in the nation, you get a return.

So much for Green Hydrogen ...

Premier pulls plug on $600m hydrogen plant

Anthony Albanese insists there is still a future for green hydrogen energy despite Peter Malinauskas axing his flagship plant, with the $593m now set aside to address emerging issues with the Whyalla steelworks.

That's a crafty move to get the Fed to step in there as well..

They've been reading my stuff, but instead of starting the solid push for a reliable power network and genuine national infrastructure to take the best benefits from Australian resources - they are just playing games ... instead of throwing in dollar coins they are playing tiddley-winks with cents.

You need that power AND that steel production... AND the national rail infrastructure to feed it all...

Taxpayers are bailing this company out.

I just don't understand how this can happen. Don't they have virtually free renewable electricity in South Australia?

Business in Australia - all profits privatised - all losses publicly funded.

I told you all years ago that the rules for business were made up in the 18th Century mostly, when about 5% of the population - the rich ones - had a vote on the rules they used and also on politician's perks, on which only the politicians actually had a vote ... and the peasants have never had a vote on any of those issues... how can you call that true democracy?

It's just the same old Neo-Feudal dungeons and dragons over and over ...
