Time for NSW Government to sue RTBU

It's time for the Minns government to get tough with the Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) that is crippling the NSW trains network with their ongoing industrial action. Minns needs to sue this union for what they are doing and hold them financially accountable for their disruptive actions. I don't normally support a Labor government, but in this case I hope they don't cave in to the ridiculous demands of the RTBU. If they did, it would send the state just about broke and only encourage further industrial action in the future. No one is denying train workers deserve a pay rise, but what the RTBU is demanding is well beyond what anyone would ever consider to be reasonable. Now we see they are sending text messages to members telling them to call in sick at the very last minute, clearly to ensure that finding a replacement for them is next to impossible.

Some text messages, sent to multiple central intercity guards, asked workers not rostered on not to accept extra shifts.

“Please do NOT accept a day in. This undercuts the sacrifice of those participating,” one message reads.

“You do NOT have to work tomorrow if you are a union member. You will miss out on the days pay.”

“You do not have to call ahead and tell anybody that you are not coming in … but please if you do call ahead wait until your sign on time or close to it.”

This sort of conduct from the union is deplorable and erases any support I once had for train drivers in these wage negotiations.

The wage rate doesn't include 'being on call'.

I think I waited 30 seconds for the train into the city and 10 mins for the train out I don't normally get it that good when they're not striking. Keep up the good work RTBU

She demonstrated the feasibility of round trips Caves Beach to Pokolbin starting and returning to a Sydney base. That is one hell of an achievement.
