Labor Wins The Werribee By-Election

Liberal Party concedes Werribee by-election following extended vote count  Smiley

Feb 14 2025
ABC News

Victorian Opposition Leader Brad Battin has conceded the Werribee by-election to Labor candidate John Lister after a tight race in the seat in Melbourne's outer west.

Labor won the seat, considered historically safe for the party, in 2022 with a 10.9 per cent margin, but has suffered a swing against it of more than 10 per cent at Saturday's by-election.

Speaking on Thursday, Mr Battin said there was "a very strong message in this campaign and this election" for Labor.

"And that's a message for the Allan Labor government, you can't keep neglecting the west," he said.

John Lister is poised to become the new state MP for Werribee.

The by-election was held after former Labor treasurer Tim Pallas retired from politics. Mr Pallas won 45 per cent of the primary vote in 2022.

At the most recent count, Labor's John Lister, a local teacher, has received 28.9 per cent of the primary vote at the by-election.

"It's a very strong message from voters who have moved away from Labor," Mr Battin said.

"And I will assure all those out in Werribee, all those out in the west, that we will continue to fight and work with them.

"Moving forward as well, the whole of the west, we want to make sure that they're all heard."

Victorian government minister Gabrielle Williams said it was "clear that John Lister will be the new member for Werribee".

"We're very pleased about that and we know that John is going to use his experience advocating for his local community over the course of the campaign, to take that strong voice for Werribee into the Victorian parliament," she said.

Ms WIlliams said the party would also "take lessons from the result".

"We know there's more to do, we're listening, we have been listening, and we are every much focused on continuing to do the work that Victorians are asking us to do, and that the people of Werribee have demanded what we do, and we have taken that very seriously," she said.

John Lister is a local high school teacher and CFA volunteer.

Mr Lister thanked members of the community entrusting him with their vote.

"We've heard the message from voters loud and clear. We need more, and the work hasn't stopped and we will continue," he said.

"What I can assure everyone who's voted in this election is I will be in your corner every day fighting for what Werribee needs."

Again - less than a third of voters went for the newly seated one.....

That is itself is an appalling indictment of Party policies across the board here.... not least as shown in the failure of the Greens ... I guess that means they are just not the future the left wants at all....

Now then - what are the underlying issues for this winter-like discontent of the voters?  I think we all know what those are........ does anyone have the balls to line the ducks up - anyone in politics, I mean?  Even Uno Nacione did not post a policy on Abo land grabs, for instance..... but we all know about some of that crap in 'the West' of Occupied Melbadishu that this Liberal guy refers to...

A tragedy for Victoria - you should never encourage them ... look what happened when Rudd took the knee and took it down the throat as well with his whining 'apology'... it wasn't The End of The Troubles - it was the beginning, as predicted by far wiser and probably poorer heads than his cunning psychopathic one..  Shocked

Just another spanner to throw into the works of those simply trying to get a decent life out of the escalating chaos all around them... just another socially engineered problem to keep the peasants off balance and unable to have a voice in the government of their own country....

... when you set out to drain the billabongs... it's hard to keep an eye on that intention while you're up to your armpits in agitators.... just a series of spoiling attacks to keep you all off balance, using low grade troops... cannon fodder for the Fourth Soapcio-Fascist Reich that will last a thousand years if we don't stop it now......

Are you there yet?

Linked up through DNA with a former gf - we didn't know we were related then... she said - in typical 'educated' feminist style - "oh, YOU did this and YOU did that" ....  I responded by asking if she had EVER seen me do anything of the kind herself ... other than work my little ring out to try for a better future than I had without EVER doing a single thing to anyone else... we were both students at the time....

Beware the Soapcio-Fascist - those women and women-controlled psychopaths can create a World War out of nothing but their own inability to sit down and talk like human beings.... when you base your entire Right to impose on others by violence on the basis of your 'feelings' and not reason - you end up with kids who think their 'feelings' tell them to chop off their balls and become the new Privileged Group - women... and then you get BLM 'supporters' and 'Palestinian supporters' who are clearly mad in thinking that their (wrongful) 'feelings' about an issue MUST countermand reason and facts......

Well - that tide has turned..... starting with the tranny movement.... now diagnosis will be on FACTS - not 'feelings'.... that'll sink 99% of them straight away.

Footnote:-  all them 'activists' should be pleased with all these reviews coming into place and play .... now all their fantasies about 'physiological, hormonal or neurological' "differences" will be placed under the microscope and the truths revealed for what they are...  they should be dancing in the streets now that their cause has received full official attention - but what do they do?  Whimper and whine about being 'genocided' and such...  FFS ...

Interesting - Werribee (is there a question mark in there somewhere - I know where I be!) was 'won' on preferences .... 29-odd percent of the primary vote went to the winner, as compared to the 'yes' vote for the 'voice', at 39%. That's how far Labor's fortunes have fallen since 'the voice'; the Voice by Stealth pursued at state levels; the weakness of the Islamophilic/Judeophobic 'stance' of Labor in government (not Power); its weakness in regard to the 'transgender' issues; it's utter lack of a coherent 'immigration' policy; and it's perpetual addiction to the new and highly destructive form of Nazism called Feminism.

Amazing stuff - this kind of 'stolen election', where the clear intent of the voting public was to remove a party and yet they were forced to continue to accept it at the helm of their representation in that State parliament, due to behind the scenes deals made.

The first canary in the mind that showed that something was very wrong with this country was Albo's 'voice' proposal, where the people like the good Germans in 1933, felt that the democratic process would determine that once and for all; but that was instantly replaced by the Voice by Stealth handed around like lollies at the State level under the guiding hand of Labor (we're supposed to think that somehow State and Federal Labor are not together on this).  This betrayal of the trust and rights of the people will not be forgiven.

All the other things, the tranny madness canary, the cost of living canary, the immigration canary, the 'renewables' canary, the Islamophile/Judeophobe canary; the never ending Feminist Nazism* canary .... and so on and so on... have lead Labor to the cannery, and will continue to do so.

So now we are stuck with Voldemort - whose party is already crowing that it will return you to neo-feudal servitude under your boss and under the global economy (just a by the by since Labor are the same there) and totally at bossy's discretion on part-time casual on call any time 24/7 without any right of refusal.

Poor Fellow - MY Country!

*like any true Nazi, these 'people' have absolutely zero remorse or empathy or even fair-mindedness in their pursuit of their own control over society/culture - they do so regardless of the devastating harm done to countless others and primarily men and their children and families - and they lose not one wink of sleep over it.  Psychopaths of the purest kind in control of the Titanic - and like the 'voice' - on their way to the knacker's yards in turn.  FINALLY - the REAL people are rising across the world!

Too much backstabbing in the ALP ranks since Keating done over Hawke, for my liking.

“ Inquiry to probe shambolic Werribee byelection vote
By Chip Le Grand
The Allan government has moved to establish an inquiry into the Werribee byelection.

Leader of the House Mary-Anne Thomas announced this morning that the bitterly contested byelection, which culminated in Labor clinging to the formerly safe seat, would be referred to the parliament’s Electoral Matters Committee.

Push for review into shambolic Werribee byelection count
The committee would examine the Victorian Electoral Commission’s conduct in the byelection and the low voter turnout, Thomas told parliament. This masthead revealed last week that both major parties would push for an inquiry into a shambolic count night marked by confusion over ballots, delays in counting and a collapsed roof.

The VEC ordered one of its officials to leave a Werribee polling place after they were allegedly overheard instructing people to vote Liberal.”
