Do those claiming this as a win even know what those funds went to Politico for?
I guess the greater question is do they care?
Perhaps contracts for their Politico Pro service, which is a collection of trade publications and a dashboard used to track legislation, lobbying, elections etc...?
Shock, that's exactly where it went...
Surprise, this story is bullshit!
Yeah, it's no surprise.
The money didn't go to the "Far-Left Politico" publication.
Private sector CEOs and lobbyists also buy the same thing.
Republicans alone spent $300,000 on these subscriptions and Republican-led committees spent $500,000 during the same in the 23/24 fy.
It's not funding, it's a transaction, just like when the government buys research, equipment, software and industry reports.
Politico has no financial dependence on the government.
Just because the kids at DOGE don't know how to read financial reports or the Trump camp is being deliberately deceptive (aka lying their asses off, again) doesn't make this bullshit true.
But it takes a lot longer to fact-check than it does for the lies to spread.
This also highlights why Trump hates fact checks and since Meta want to keep their protections under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996, Zuc capitulated to Trump and announced the removal of their fact-checking service and bent the knee.
Because why let facts get in the way of this post-truth era?
