The smell of smoke today out in the SE suburbs of Melbourne.

Probably the bushfires in the Grampians out west.

A reminder that February is usually the worst month for bushfires around here.  Sad

Being old I have stories and I tell them.

My father in law came to Australia in in the early 50's and went straight out into the bush working in a saw mill. When working in the bush the first thing they did was to clear an area and dig a big ditch. When bush fires would occur all the workers would gather in the ditch and sit out the fires. There was never anything in the news about the fires and nobody even knew about them because when they would go into a town nobody knew about the fires.
