Reading the transcript, Williams was spot on with his criticism of Rogan.

He described Rogan as "deeply repulsive" and accused him of exploiting societal fears and anxieties for malevolent purposes. Check.

Williams argued that Rogan’s approach to entertainment perpetuates misinformation, such as conspiracy theories, under the guise of normalised narratives, which he finds deeply concerning given Rogan's vast influence in the US. Check.

Williams also contrasted Rogan's platform with the public broadcaster's role in providing trusted news and fostering informed discourse. Check.

It's all accurate.

I guess the truth hurt.  It's especially triggering for the "tell it how it is" crowd which is the funniest part.

malevolent purposes?

Cheesy Cheesy

What is Rogan's malevolent purpose??

Williams didn't 'argue' anything, Sad. You are not in Sociology 101 with Mothra and the rest of the pink haired brigade.

He was asked a question and he gave an ill-considered, ill-tempered answer that was just a little off the cuff rant.

Nobody of Williams's class much cared about Rogan and his class until they thought his interviewing Trump - and not Kackela - may have contributed to the el election result.

There is plenty of misinformation on his ABC, btw.

Congrats to the ABC, the first broadcaster to have more employees than viewers.

Williams passes judgement on a podcaster he doesn't listen to  - there's the ABC  and its pink haired acolytes summed up.

Joe Rogan should be understood as solely an entertainer - an amalgam of Archie Bunker and Homer Simpson.

Yes, he's an avid conspiracy theory enthusiast in the way male early teenagers are superhero enthusiasts.

When he was proved wrong, in real time, about the money Beyonce and others were paid to support Harris, he laughed and quipped, 'but I want it to be true!'.

When he interviews genuinely informed people, often not even famous people, (like 83-year-old Merlin Tuttle, who spent decades in the Amazon studying bats!), he proves himself to be a naturally gifted conversationalist.

The problem is he's become the world's most famous victim of the Dunning-Kruger effect. He appears to believe he comprehends the subjects in peer terms his real experts explain in layman's terms to him and his audience, but cannot discern an expert from a well-spoken grifter like Graham Hancock or a logic-twisting fraud like Bret Weinstein.

Due to his fame, of course, many have copied his format and hailed it as a genuine replacement for the many-faulted mainstream media - now branded the alternative new media - which is descending into a soup of medieval religiosity and primitive mysticism.

Of course, politicians were never going to be far behind the grifters in recognising the power of this new kind of entertainment and exploiting it.

Even though Mr Williams launched the inflammatory, and highly personal, attack against Rogan, he confusingly stated he never watched the Joe Rogan Experience.

Kim Williams said his biggest problem with Rogan is the Covad conspiracy theories.
Which ones, like covid origin? That the covid vaccines are probably of little use for younger healthier people and important for older/unhealthy people? Or maybe he was upset because Rogan used horse paste?

BTW, Chris Cumo now is a horse paste user.

Yep, more than unreasonable to lay that at Rogan's feet, when thousands were questioning government covid dogma.

I took note when the ABC's Dr Norman Swan started to stumble over his words regarding covid and vaccines... Cognitive dissonance much, Norm?
