Aboriginal wood is steel. This is because a long piece of wood fits in the skull-bone trauma of a skull dated to 13th century. Even though mulga wood has strength of 120MPa and skull-bone is 130-210 MPa, Aboriginal 120 is a bigger number.  No British were here then so 120 is much larger than you think. Wood is steel. Remember that. Say it again, and again.

Yes, wood can be spun into woollen yarn for socks which do rot. Creosote or copper gives a longer life for standing in wet soil.
