Being cynical is so woke nowadays.
I’ve really worked hard to become better and can announce I’m now also bitter and angry!
Being "woke" means to "be aware". I remember when I was in high school and I defined what "woke" meant. The word quickly spread out of Central Queensland and became adopted in places like North America.
Americans might think that they invented the term. But, Australians are far more socially advanced than the general Americans that it is not surprising that the term originated in North Qld and was given a definition in the year 1996 by me and a few other close friends. I remember having a hotmail account and writing emails to an American about this term.
Indigenous Australians in rural and regional Qld would say "Did he/she woke?" or "Is he/she woke?". They meant "is (specified person) awake, now?" after a night of substance abuse.
Woke does not mean "to be antifascist". Antifa is an anti-woke organisation. Generally people aged between 30 and 70 years of age have the tendency to show "wokeness". Generally, those people born in the GenerationX demographic are "woke". If you were born between 1974 and 1983, being "woke" is a part of your culture. People born after, say, 1999 tend to have an anti-woke agenda.
Transgender people do have a tendency to be anti-woke. But that is their prerogative. Oh, I just said something "woke".
