These baseless claims of rigged elections - both this one and the one in which Biden won and Trump lost are really getting beyond ridiculous now.
Take that half-witted fool Marjorie Taylor Greene, as an example. She has been reiterating the lie virtually non-stop that the election in which Biden won and Trump lost was rigged. However, that was the election that saw her elected to Congress. So was the entire election rigged, just not for her?
Then there's the 60+ court cases that Trump fought through his lawyers seeking to overturn the election by claiming it was rigged. Not a single one of those court cases succeeded, despite a great many being presented to conservative judges appointed by Trump. Trump has constantly claimed he has proof it was rigged - incontrovertible evidence that he was the true winner. Where is this proof? Not one piece of evidence was presented at any of those 60+ court cases that he lost and not one piece of evidence has been presented by Trump at any campaign rally, television interview or internet podcast despite him having four years to do so.
I'm hoping with every fibre of my being that Trump loses next week, but lets say he does unfortunately win. He has been droning on and on and on for months - no, years - that the election he lost and the one he is in now are rigged. So what does that mean if he is declared the winner of the 2024 presidential election? It's rigged, right, so the win must go to Kamala Harris since the whole thing is corrupt and the process can't be trusted.
Then I saw on the news this morning that the National Guard have been mobilised in a number of key states, as well as in Washington DC for obvious reasons. This is such a damning indictment on the influence of Trump and his MAGA cult on American politics because I can't remember a time where I ever saw military units being deployed to prepare for possible civil unrest as a result of a presidential election in the United States of America. This is the sort of thing you expect to see in some South American country ruled by a dictator, not what is supposed to be the leading democracy in the world.
Trump has literally been the single worst thing to happen to US politics in probably the history of the country. Here's hoping he loses, because at his age, there's virtually no chance of him running again in 2028 when he will be 82 years old.
