Harris's 'female nerd' schtick is part of a complex facade to appear as anti-Trump as it is possible to get, calculated to appeal to the women vote (particularly young women) which, this cycle, is expected to exceed 50% of the total vote - she's highly intelligent.

However, she will owe a debt to powerful forces both within Congress and without.

She will pursue, what in America is perceived as a leftist agenda - expanding Medicare, returning abortion legality and moderate tax relief to low-end workers; in Australian political sensibility, it will be a centre-right agenda.

Ukraine will be defended with more aid.

Israel will be permitted to pursue its agenda of ending Iran's sponsoring of proxy wars in the region.

The US will continue its program of containing China's expansionist ambitions.

Relations with Australia and our region will be excellent as the US continues its pursuit of strengthening its political and military interests in the Pacific.

Moderately strong thinker. Very committed to Dem ideals. Tough and resilient. Probably not across the whole Presidential brief, but still young and smart enough to study up when required.

Definitely a better pick for President, than a fat old guy who has had a turn and wasn't anything special (and is 4 years older now.)

Even if Harris is not as smart or knowledgeable as Trump (that's an IF) at least she isn't a convicted criminal with two impeachments under the belt.

I agree that Harris would be good for Australia. The EU stands up for itself, and will meet tariffs with counter-tariffs. But Australia stands to beaten up by Trump: he will impose tariffs on us too, if we continue free trade with China.

Trump is simply inept when it comes to the Asian region. He withdrew the US from the TPP because it didn't favor America enough, screwing strong allies like Japan, Canada, Malaysia and Australia. We all formed another alliance (CPTPP,) without some of the corporate powers the US wanted. The US got screwed. In fact, there's some talk of China joining the new CPTTP when the initial intention was to disadvantage China. Nice one Donny.
