France urges halt to arms deliveries to Israel

The global isolation of Israel is starting.

France attempted to prevent Israeli presence at a Euro arms exhibition early in the year.

France finally speaks with its own voice instead of following the commands of Israel and the US.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday, October 5, urged a halt to arms deliveries to Israel, which has been criticized over the conduct of its retaliatory operation in Gaza.

"I think that today, the priority is that we return to a political solution, that we stop delivering weapons to fight in Gaza," Macron told broadcaster France Inter. "France is not delivering any," he added during the interview recorded early this week.

The United States provides about $3 billion in weapons to Israel each year. In May, the State Department said it did not have enough evidence to block shipments of weapons but that it was "reasonable to assess" that Israel has used arms in ways inconsistent with standards of humanitarian law.

In September, Britain said it was suspending some arms exports to Israel, citing a "clear risk" that they could be used in a serious breach of international humanitarian law.

Macron reiterated his concern over the conflict in Gaza that is continuing despite repeated calls for a ceasefire. "I think we are not being heard," he said. "I think it is a mistake, including for the security of Israel," he said, adding that the conflict was leading to "hatred." Macron also said avoiding an escalation in Lebanon was a "priority." "Lebanon cannot become a new Gaza," he added.

And the extreme RW Israeli government has expressly ruled out a Palestinian State - a stance which itself is a rejection of international law, and the cause of the conflict.

The biggest arms exporter to Israel in Europe is Germany.

You’re an idiot. Israel is the victim here. They don’t murder and kidnap civilians. Hamas does. Hezbollah does. Iran does. There’s a reason they’re labeled terrorists, not Israel. They just want to be left to live in peace. Palestine could’ve been a recognised free state many years ago when Israel (I think under Rabin) basically gave Arafat (head of the PLO at the time) pretty much everything they asked for. The offer included many concessions by Israel, such as giving up land occupied by Israelis. The hardliners in the PLO blocked Arafat from accepting. There could’ve been peace 15-20 years ago, but it’s clear the hardliner Palestinians in the old PLO and now Hamas want only one thing - destruction of Israel - and they’re willing to use their own citizens as human shields, as we’ve seen. Israel only strikes after it has first been struck. It’s rare for them to strike first and is usually done only when an attack on Israel is imminent. Strikes to kill Hamas leaders are fair game and no different from the US going after Taliban leaders. As we’ve seen repeatedly, when Israel does strike, they usually give ample warning for civilians to leave because they know Hamas and Hezbollah use civilians as human shields. Your argument fails on every single level and ignores cold, hard facts.
