if we wanted to define "better' we would say

unselfish
put others first
always smiling
always positive
want to share their gifts
want to contribute
understand you have to give before you recieve
rarely complain
dont gossip
always aiming to give more
passionate
focused

now, if you have the above attributes and you go into business, be it as a tradie or some other small business, what happens?

you absolutely thrive in the market
people flock to you
return customers are virtually gauranteed.
you get so many customers , you have to raise your prices to keep the workload manageable

and you get rich

thereby proving the hypothesis that rich people get rich because they have all the admirable personailty and behavioural characteristics

The exact opposite attributes to 95% of the most wealthy.

you silly billy.

i dont want your approval.

That's why you keep coming back trying to explain yourself to me  Grin Grin Grin

Dumb as dog horseshit you are.

pro bono work john

i do it for my benefit

now have you read the excellent work byjoseph grenney  "crucial conversations "

I see you're still seeking my approval horseboy. Calling it 'pro bono' won't change your behaviour.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

The only 'pro bono' you are interested in is that in which you can tell yourself how much better then others you are. That's because deep down, you're afraid that if you were being really honest, you would have to acknowledge just what a waste of effort you really are. And you just can't face that truth.

I don't believe giving away the odd $2 bag of horse manure fits the definition of pro bono.

But perhaps that's just me?  Undecided

I've long suspected Horseboy masturbates to his own posts. I consider my suspicion confirmed.

Mothra,
why do you need to put a sexual slant on everything?

Not that .....

...there is a problem with doing that.

If you make it personal, your opponent will be more likely to respond.

Aside from some niches like medicine and social work, nobody gets rich by being nice to other people.

Your theory is simply bizarre.

Even the reverse order (rich people are kinder BECAUSE they have more comfortable lives) isn't really true. They have greater tunover of wives for instance. Why would a woman divorce them, when the woman can be rich either way? Perhaps because they're not particularly "good" after all?

The rich are more charitable (particularly to their relatives) but it's a dollar measurement. As percentage of their wealth, they're ordinary.

And "have to give before you can receive" may apply to Bill Gates (though even he was a privileged child) but it definitely does not apply to Elon Musk or Donald Trump.

The balancing gap between rich and poor is such that if you wanted to see the difference between the socioecononic divide, it all comes down to which celebrity has the better sense of humour.

I love watching the "Logies", as it shows how good the Australian sense of humour is, compared to the world. We Australians are a battle-hardened bunch of "former colonials".
