In this week’s Alaska Senate primary election, Democrat Mary Peltola beat Republican incumbent Dan Sullivan by five points. Under Alaska law, the four candidates who receive the most votes, regardless of party affiliation, go on the ballot in the November general election. And for that reason, it’s significant that the third-place finisher, garnering 2.4% of the vote, was also a Republican named Dan Sullivan.

Two months ago, Sen. Dan Sullivan petitioned Alaska’s state Election Division to remove the second Dan Sullivan (a schoolteacher from rural Alaska with no political experience) from the ballot, calling his candidacy a Democrat dirty trick to deceive voters. The Election Division agreed and removed the name. But Alaska’s Supreme Court, finding no requirement in state election law that candidates run “in good faith”, reversed the Election Division’s decision and allowed the second Sullivan’s candidacy to stand.

Democrats’ Supreme Court reform is a cynical power grab

The 2026 midterms are fast approaching, and the players are already manoeuvring ahead of the presidential election in two years’ time. As they do so, one phrase is increasingly on Democrats’ lips: “Supreme Court reform”. Which is to say, court-packing.
Behind the innocuous, focus-group-tested phrasing lies an ugly message: Democrats are finished with appeals to vague ideas of “democracy” and “country over party”. This is pure partisan revanchism, a political street fight that appeals to no neutral principle, no liberal democratic ideology, but merely a win-at-all-costs radicalism. History tells us that this effort will not find favour with voters. That is a good thing, because if it did, it would signal the end of the 250-year-old experiment in American governance.
...

Democrats pushing for court-packing just want to win, and they don’t care which constitutional norms they tear down to do it. If Republicans want to highlight their opponents’ hypocrisy and out-of-control tribalism, they should take up the bills Dems are proposing.
“We need to revisit the point of expanding the court to 13 justices like we have 13 district courts [sic],” former vice president Kamala Harris said last month. Congressional Republicans ought to call her bluff and introduce the bill as soon as they return from the August recess. Let Democrats vote to give Donald Trump four more seats to fill. Of course, they will vote it down, but it would be a valuable lesson for the people that the party which claimed “our democracy is on the ballot” is back with a more sinister message in 2026: power at all costs.

I say, dear boy, do you support free and fair elections yourself?

You haven't said. Why is that?

Trump Election rigging lies worked out well for Dominiom $787 Million.

How about  “release the Kraken”

Sydney Powell,Guilty plea to conspiring to intentionally interfere with election duties related to the 2020 election.

How about Fox host Tucker Carlson who went to court with the defence provided by FOX that his lies had no impact because everyone already knew that he didn't tell the truth - nobody believed him anyway.

What about John Eastmen - one of the many Trump election lawyers who was disbarred.

Then Rudy - Poor old Rudy of Borat fame and the wrong Four Seasons. You know the Trump Lawyer disbarred over 2020 election lies or was it for having a microphone down his pants ?

Do we remember that there were dozens of court cases lost by trump Lawyers including Rudy and Sydney. These cases were all going great for the Trump side right up to the point where the judge asked to see the evidence to support their claims and then unfortunately they had to say - evidence we don't have any of that.

They literally went into 62 court rooms with no evedence to support their case and wondered why they lost.

In 1789 there were 6 justices on the supreme court in 1869 it was increased to 9. Since then the workload has increased from about 600 filings per year to around 8,000 filings.

Besides that there are at least 2 current justices who have been absolutely proven to be corrupt and the appointment process is significantly flawed or even compromised.
I doubt there has ever been an organisation more in need of reform. Right from the start having it operate as a political appointment locked in by default a political bias one way or the other. This was never going to not be corruptly politically biased past the 20th century.

So it’s only okay when Trump and Republicans do it? Remember when Obama was President and near the end of his term he had a chance to fill a vacancy but Republicans refused to even hold a vote, saying it was too close to the election and Americans should get to decide? Then at the end of Trump’s first term the same situation happened and Republicans couldn’t hold a vote quick enough. Oh, the hypocrisy!

You talk about incomprehension, dont make me laugh.
Show me frank, where does it say anything about changing the supreme court before the end of trumps term ?
It doesnt frank ,just you and the writers wishfull thinking, just another example of trump supporters reading what is not there.

No timeline given, just a call to consider changing the makeup of the supreme court.

I doubt the democrats are as dumb as you and the gop frank, they wouldnt give the failure that is trump another 4 seats.
