That didn't work this far, Russians keep advancing on strategically important directions while there are increased number of photo/video content with destroyed Ukrainian armour and killed bodies from Kursk region in last couple of days. Russia has superior air power while AFRu armour matches AFU if not better.

This is a very smart move by Ukraine for several reasons. It destroys the illusion of Putin being unbeatable and the safety of the "motherland". It creates confusion and fear inside Russia, especially along the border with Ukraine. It sucks up precious resources of the already overstretched and under equipped Russian military, forcing Putin to move forces out of Ukraine to defend Russian territory. It also puts Ukraine in a better negotiating position. It's about time this happened, and in fact, I'm surprised it hadn't been done sooner.

That's because Russians hunt in silence and Ukrainian crew doesn't make noise after the hunt for obvious reason.
