Futures:  don't panic.

ASX to drop,

iron ore slumps;

gold price tipped to hit $US 3170

The Australian sharemarket are set to tumbled 2 per cent at the open after a rally in New York swiftly reversed after the White House said the US would move forwards with total tariffs worth 104 per cent on Chinese exports on Wednesday.

ASX futures were pointing down 154 points, or 2 per cent to 7379, suggesting the S&P/ASX 200 will entirely erase the prior day’s 2.2 per cent gain, which was its largest since November 2022.

Goods from China, by far the biggest target,
are now subject to at least a
104% tariff.

Trump tacked on even higher tariffs than initially announced after Beijing
didn’t back off its promise to impose 34% retaliatory tariffs Tuesday.

It reminds me of a song:

All I see turns to brown
as the sun burns the ground
and my eyes fill with sand
as I scan this wasted  wasted land

The crypto world is pumping!

Then I see there’s a 90 day pause on tariffs!
Oh well, may as well make hay while the sun shines!

Liberals Devastated As Stock Market Recovers

NEW YORK, NY — Local stockbroker and lifelong Democrat Kang Anon fell into utter despair today, tears falling from his eyes as he watched the stock market recover.

Friends and relatives expressed deep concern about Kang Anon's anguish. "He had been so happy the last couple of days as the stock market was crashing," his coworker  Karnal noted. "He was truly on cloud nine. He kept saying that Trump tanking the economy was probably the single greatest thing that ever happened to him."

However, as the stock market rallied historically on Wednesday, Kang Anon's mood turned sour. "It was like someone flipped a light switch,"  karnal noted. "He kept looking at the stock market ticker going up and up, and he just kept sobbing harder and harder. There was no consoling him."

Kang Anon reportedly went up to the roof to get some air but ended up hurling himself off the building shortly thereafter. Sources say he yelled "TRUMP WAS RIGHT! I'VE LOST EVERYTHiIIING," as he plummeted towards Wall Street.

In a stroke of good fortune, Kang Anon landed softly on a shipment of MyPillows bound for Trump Tower. Upon realizing he owed his life to Trump supporter Mike Lindell, Anon apparently became even more distraught and had to be sedated at the scene.
