If true this means Russian air defences supplied to Iran aren't worth pissing on.

Did Israel fly over Syria-Iraq or Saudi Arabia to do this?
My money is on Saudis turning off air defences to allow this.

What we're covering

Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh has been killed in the Iranian capital Tehran, according to the Palestinian militant group and Iranian state media. Hamas said Haniyeh was killed in an Israeli strike.

Israel’s military said it does not respond to reports in foreign media, though senior officials have previously vowed to eliminate Hamas in response to the group’s October 7 attack.

Haniyeh was hit with an “airborne guided projectile,” state media said. He had attended the Iranian president’s inauguration on Tuesday and was reportedly staying in one of the residences for veterans in north Tehran.
