New tools
Jul 30th, 2024 at 5:05pm

It's been some time since I bought a new tool.
Only buy one if I need it. Not want it.

Bought a Stanley S110 Stud finder today.
Instructions were really bad, a U-Tube showed me how.
Seems good.
Some of the ceiling in the kitchen is sagging, will screw it back up, plaster it, then paint it all BEFORE a new $23K kitchen is installed

Bought a Pop rivet gun to do a job on the lawn mower

it's one of the tools I'll likely not use again, it is a good model at a good price.
Did the job well and I was pleased with it

Do you have a stud finder, Bobby?

well done.
I've wanted to buy a new tool/toy for a few weeks but can't find one.
Have no need for anything
maybe they should make a 'cool looking' tool to sell that does not do anything.
Just looks good
Chrome, a wormdrive thingie in it. A wide area you can hit with a hammer.

I didn't realise how good a multi-tool was until I used one.

yes, electric tools are really good.
years ago I got RSI in my arms and doctor put me onto electric screwdrivers.
Really good, I got an adaptor so can use a socket set with them

Look at what I found in the boot of my car -
pruning snips -
I don't remember ever seeing them before -
they are sharp and cut well.
I wonder if they are worth cleaning up ?  -
I did coat them with WD40 one day ago as they have rust.

My latest "new" tool is a post hole digger.
Actually, it was a gift from my son who couldn't get it working and said if I could fix it, I could have it.
He bought a new one.

This tool was used on his farm, but died on the 10th hole.
His new one is far more reliable and can throw you across the fence when it grabs.

Anyhoo, investigation into the cause of failure took me all of 10 minutes.
Swarf in the fuel tank and a missing in tank filter.
The plastic swarf made its way into the inlet needle, flooding the carby.

Cleaned it out, added a filter replaced the spark plug and vrooom, it's going again.
He doesn't want it back, he likes his new one.
But I don't really have any need for a post hole digger.
Yes his one came in handy when we put up the new fence, but how often does one put up a fence?

So I am now the proud owner of a post hole digger and 250mm auger.
Woo hoo, ........

I just emptied out my kitchen and tool drawers.
I didn't think I had this many scissors and cutters:

The problem is that you can't use that many pairs of scissors,
so which ones should you throw out?     Undecided
