Scientist: Humans will be extinct in 100 years
Jul 12th, 2024 at 11:48pm

The future of humanity appears headed in that direction.

"He said he believes the situation is irreversible, and it is too late ..."

AGW is accelerating and may be exacerbated by positive feedback from methane emissions from land that has lost ice and snow cover. Northern Canada, Alaska, and much of Europe are affected. Giant sinkholes have appeared in Siberia.

The rate of garbage production is not declining.

Population is increasing.

Humans will be extinct in 100 years says eminent scientist
by Lin Edwards , Phys.org

(PhysOrg.com) -- Eminent Australian scientist Professor Frank Fenner, who helped to wipe out smallpox, predicts humans will probably be extinct within 100 years, because of overpopulation, environmental destruction and climate change.

Fenner, who is emeritus professor of microbiology at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra, said homo sapiens will not be able to survive the population explosion and “unbridled consumption,” and will become extinct, perhaps within a century, along with many other species. United Nations official figures from last year estimate the human population is 6.8 billion, and is predicted to pass seven billion next year.

Fenner told The Australian he tries not to express his pessimism because people are trying to do something, but keep putting it off. He said he believes the situation is irreversible, and it is too late because the effects we have had on Earth since industrialization (a period now known to scientists unofficially as the Anthropocene) rivals any effects of ice ages or comet impacts.

Fenner said that climate change is only at its beginning, but is likely to be the cause of our extinction. “We’ll undergo the same fate as the people on Easter Island,” he said. More people means fewer resources, and Fenner predicts “there will be a lot more wars over food.”

Easter Island is famous for its massive stone statues. Polynesian people settled there, in what was then a pristine tropical island, around the middle of the first millennium AD. The population grew slowly at first and then exploded. As the population grew the forests were wiped out and all the tree animals became extinct, both with devastating consequences. After about 1600 the civilization began to collapse, and had virtually disappeared by the mid-19th century. Evolutionary biologist Jared Diamond said the parallels between what happened on Easter Island and what is occurring today on the planet as a whole are “chillingly obvious.”

While many scientists are also pessimistic, others are more optimistic. Among the latter is a colleague of Professor Fenner, retired professor Stephen Boyden, who said he still hopes awareness of the problems will rise and the required revolutionary changes will be made to achieve ecological sustainability. “While there's a glimmer of hope, it's worth working to solve the problem. We have the scientific knowledge to do it but we don't have the political will,” Boyden said. ...

What you fail to understand is that humanity is what is dying - and thus humanity will be extinct... not humans.   You see a lot of that right now with the psychopathic dismemberment of this country by those running the show and those who are handed, without reason, the inside running.

Humanity is dying - there is only hatred and a reversion here to the ancient law of the jungle (neo)feudal style of 'the biggest fists and the biggest dollars rule over all' ..... might makes right.

We have 'governments' that will kow-tow to some ancient and worn-out imperialist way - as long as it is from selected groups - of simply saying - "I see this land, it is my land because I see it and I have the spears to hold it."... a form of land grab workable at a time when there were very - very - few other people around and large holdings were up for grabs just by wandering over them ad maybe knocking a dozen or so 'competitors' on the head.  It is now 2024 - times and number has changed massively, and the land you thought was all yours by right of walking on it it cannot sustain that kind of possession, and nor does it abide by the rules.

They don't have the spears these days and even if they did they could not prevail using them - so the same government, sworn to uphold all rights for all equally - hands to them sheaves of 'legal' and dollar spears, lawfare backed by silver bullets, with which to threaten, intimidate and subjugate others, and thus take armed possession of land that they cannot even use.  Government itself has allied itself to these perpetrators of division and subjugation... kow-towed to their ancient way of imposing on others by force.... and joined them willingly so as to allow government to achieve its own end - a different form of subjugation of the people.

This is madness..... a form of psychopathy .... our governments are all gone to madness....... the people have no power to change things...... but history tells us that those with no voice will find it.... and the people of Australia must find their voice and enforce it on government .... of this nation will perish.

Lawfare and silver bullets will destroy humanity.... and quite a few humans along the way.....

From 60,00 years ago the world was dominated by the first nation. Land rights then were global and included the uranium, oil and burnt bushlands. When the British Empire was struggling, the spears were thrown at the dying beast.

Black supremacy is violently pulling the purse strings across the world. Didjeridoo rules. Feet are stamping people into the dust of history. Megafauna are microsoft. The bones are being pointed at the end of humanity.

You have been googling environmental destruction and climate change, Throbbo, and found this article from 2010 about Professor Frank Fenner's views.

Professor Fenner died in 2010.

The world could end at any moment.
The Yanks and the Russians have 12,000 operational nuclear weapons between them.
There used to be over 70,000 at the height of the cold war.

Just one nuke submarine could wipe out Europe or the USA.
It's madness and such weapon systems should never have been allowed to exist.
Reasonable people on both sides should have prevailed to stop it.
Either side should have seen that it's totally unacceptable.
It's like a loaded gun held to the head of every person on this planet.

How is underpopulation a threat?

Threat to who?

What is under-population if there is even such a thing?

Not in Africa and India.

And so in the rest of the world.

The future belongs to those who turn up for it.

Whites, Japanese are not having kids. Blacks, Arabs, Indians outbreed everyone. A dim future.
