That was a [Department of Justice] matter, and they're the only ones that can speak to it".

Why then did the Australan delegation only speak to Congress and not to a judge?

They spoke to the DoJ. Why would they speak to a judge?

Great interview by ABC's 7.30 Sarah Ferguson, of MAGA- darling MT Greene; Marjorie has supported Assange for years because he "exposed lies of government".

The interview went well until Sarah attempted to change the subject to Trump.... the two ladies began sparring like prize fighters...Greene was feisty and held up well.

O dear, what confused bunnies we all are.

I might head to China, hope the government knows what it is doing, and shut up about politics.....

Did it not also cross your mind that Green was espousing, lauding, championing the role of the media (Assange) in exposing stuff, yet when it came to her being asked questions about what she had been up to in the past and present, she sought to restrict the media?

Of course Green is an AF/MAGA ideologue who will laud the media when it aligns with her ideology, and condemn the media (in this case, Ferguson asking about Trump)  when it doesn't.

Like I said - what confused bunnies we all are: John Smith (with whom I mostly agree on most things) hates Assange, whereas I love Assange because I hate war and the 'deep state's 'security'/secrecy apparatus; I'm definitely  NOT 'AF/MAGA', yet I like Greene's support of Assange  because we both hate the 'deep state' ...but for very, very different reasons.

Then you (Aussie) who claim  to vote ALP,  now critiicizes Albo for welcoming Asange back  - as per the Oz majority opinion including Barnaby Joyce (!).

Now you can see why China with its one-party meritocracy is looking good: the  "right" to vote in "free" democratic elections" amounts to a fraud visited upon electorates of confused, squabbling, self-interested bunnies (which we all are), with neither side capable of engendering common prosperity while the wealthy are laughing all the way to the bank.

I wonder if Assange is antiwar and pro a UNSC minus veto, to enforce rulings of an ICJ , thereby allowing for general disarmament other than permanent members of the UNSC)?

Neanderthals like chimera of course won't have a bar of it, hence his ancient  "freedom or death"  ideology, life be damned.

Speaking to  a US judge would be interfering, but they didn't do that. It was all political:
'A cross-party delegation of Assange supporters travelled to the US to press the matter with Republican and Democratic lawmakers last year. Australian MPs signed an open letter that was published in the Washington Post.

Albanese raised the case directly with the US president, Joe
Biden, on an official visit to Washington in October 2023.'

That outreach was backed up three months later when Australia’s attorney general, Mark Dreyfus, visited Washington and raised it with his counterpart, Merrick Garland, who runs the Department of Justice.

Why would they do that when they won't even revoke temporary visas for non citizens/ illegal migrant criminals?

Assange committed no crime.

Assange is not a US citizen.

No crime was committed in the USA.

The USA has no jurisdiction over Assange other than that which the UK and Sweden were coerced to impose on Assange.

What a cockhead he is then, ey?  Pleaded guilty to a US crime.  Oh dear......

Corruption in the Swedish and UK political and judicial systems was the cause of Assange's problems.

He could not be tried until he returned to the USA so UK politicians and judges obliged Uncle Sam with the unlawful detention of Assange on trumped up charges.

The USA does not have lawful jurisdiction over foreigners acting outside the USA so it applies unlawful jurisdiction by kidnapping and unlawful transport of victims into US territory.

That is why the USA uses secret military courts because the action of detention of foreigners and kidnapping would not be acceptable to the US judicial system.

Where were the US Military computer mainframes that were hacked into to gain the information that Wikileaks leaked????

If they were in the US then Assange committed the crime on US soil.

Is it not the same when foreign hackers breach govt, companies data bases here in Australia?

Doesn't the AFP/ASIO seek assistance from other countries police forces & intelligence agencies to bring those responsible to justice?

So the US had a right to seek Assanges extradition.

If you think Ferguson had her on to talk sweet, warm and cuddly about Assange, you might like a big steel bridge I have for sale in Sydney.

Green is a sitting duck.  Easy meat, you just have to offer her the right lure, as Ferguson did, and she came right in to the Interview, thinking Ferguson was a tame Aussie pussy.  She must not have seen Ferguson rip the arse out of "The Kraken."

Did it not also cross your mind that Green was espousing, lauding, championing the role of the media (Assange) in exposing stuff, yet when it came to her being asked questions about what she had been up to in the past and present, she sought to restrict the media?

I'll be posting that Interview on the Yank Forum as soon as iView has it up.

FMD.

Funnily I saw a clip of that ... Greene was having none of it ... & Ferguson got her arse ripped.

If you think Ferguson could dish up the same off topic shyte like Peccar does here bringing Trump into every post then you were mistaken.

He was forced to admit espionage, to assuage the guilt of those exposed  for conducting US war crimes, and to have any chance of ever returning home.

Why is he landing in Canberra?

I guess because it's our capital city, and half a dozen politicians - from Canberra - helped to get him home.

Would be weird if he landed in Adelaide   Undecided

They may attend Parliament in Canberra but they are not necessarily "from" Canberra.

Albo is not from Canberra.

Rudd certainly isn't. Nor is he a politician.

Ironic that, while Yankists rant about freedom as if they invented the idea, now, through the Assange fiasco, their governance system is lumbered with having jeopardised press freedom and smearing the presumed sanctity and protections of their Constitution's 1st Amendment.

In this, Yankists acted no differently than China's CCP with its security laws.

Its the same everywhere.   In Australia, we jailed David McBride for exposing war crimes in Afghanistan.  And Witness K was convicted for exposing spying against the East Timor, in order to gain financial advantage for private companies like Woodside.

You're not referring to that mincing twat Alexander Downer?  Grin

Why would Albanese ring Assange, and more stupidly, make it public that he did?

For the huge political capital it would earn him.

Why else?

You think? I thought it was another nail in his political careers coffin.

Did they also form a band?

He would want to thank the 6 politicians in Canberra first.

Of all the things to argue about in regards to Assange, where his plane landed seems to be the least important of all.

In fact, it's just not important.  A non-issue.
