Hi Aussie,
what do you think about plea bargains?

Isn't it a form of duress to plead guilty to something you haven't done just to get out of jail?

Julian didn't do it on US territory.

Don't come to me for excuses for this bastard.  This whole saga would have been done and dusted years ago if he had dropped the Messiah thing.

He made this bed....he is bloody lucky the US have agreed to let him go without facing the full force of their Law.

This sets a very bad precedent...behave for years like a prima donna/diva cock head, thumb your nose at the Law, breach bail, and ultimately, and let's say it...because of political and expediency considerations, you'll escape facing the Law as you should.

You watch, when he gets to Australia, he will play/milk this for every cent he can get from a willing media, hungry for any story, no matter what.

He will sing that song you have just mentioned, "I am innocent, they made me confess to get out of Jail."

The truth is, the bastard should have gone to the USA, faced the Law, made the arguments you have mentioned and more, and then I may have had some sympathy for him.

Never, now.

Assange was very wrong to publish the names of people in Afghanistan
who had helped the Yanks during the war. (translators etc)
The Yanks had to act quickly and at great cost and considerable risk to life
to get those people out before the Taliban murdered them.

Assange was a very irresponsible journalist who was not just a whistleblower
but someone who published 100s of 1000s of unredacted secret documents
that were stolen from the USA.
He could have received the death penalty in court.

And his shanagins/tantrums/childish behaviour have worked and allowed him to avoid facing the full force of US Law.

He had already been assured he would not been given a death sentence and that he would have the same rights (ie to the 1st Amendment) as a US Citizen would.

Politics.....politics.............politics.....that's it.

Biden gets a troublesome turd off his plate, and Albanese will claim credit.

Nah.

US treason is (1) “levying war” against the United States; or (2) “adhering to [the] enemies [of the United States], giving them aid and comfort.”
Trump gave Europe to Putin.

Apart from a Post I made and another Aussie made......not one little murmur about this on the Yank Forum.

Looks like it's a great big yawn to them.

But as a lawyer you should be thinking about how you would have got him off the charges.

That moron is about to be released after a plea deal.  He will be heading here, but the sooner we can ship the prick out back to the UK the better. (Maybe the Poms don't want the arsehole there either.)

His Wife and their kids are there.

Just heard on the radio that his wife & kids are here in Australia.

Not once did/have I ever refused to act for even the most grubby, but I wonder what I would have done if that

t had ever crossed my Office threshold.

I probably would have taken him  on, but you would have never seen me in the Media pushing any propaganda which is all he ever had in his defence....loud noises from rent-a-crowd, and of course, his Messiah performance/act.

I would have been spending my time and his money on finding proper defences in Law, no matter how tenuous.  In the USA, you can toss up any and all sorts of bullshit, even challenge the right of the Prosecutor to prosecute.

Yes, she posted a piece to camera about a week ago foreshadowing this, but it was not released until today.

This has been meticulously orchestrated, and I'll bet Albanese has been up to his arsehole involved in it all.

Grrrrrrrrr......................

It sets a precedent -
any journalist - even not one in the USA can be charged for publishing secret US documents.

Yes, Cannon would be a ripper to have as a Judge in any espionage case, given her performance on the matter of Humpty and his gross breaches of the Espionage Act.

Assange is not,  nor has he ever been,  a journalist.   And he deserved everything he copped.
