The successive US Administrations' obsession with Assange was not motivated by the pursuit of justice nor by the affording of protection to US citizens, but by revenge - An insult to the spirit of the US Constitution and its Bill of Rights.

The multiple US Administrations' obsessive heavy-leaning tactics to have Assange deported to the US, made US arse-lickers out of successive Swedish, Australian, Ecuadorian and (particularly) British governments.

What is the point of a British monarch as an Australian head of state if it is meaningless in affording protection or basic human rights to Australian citizens?

Assange was treated like a terrorist by UK governments in their attempt to prove that Britain is the US's most loyal bitch.

While I believe Assange was wrong to release some of the information he did, the US witch hunt was, like the Swedish rape charges, way over the top. In any case he has been punished enough.

https://edition.cnn.com/2024/06/24/politics/julian-assange-plea-deal-biden-admin...

The plea deal would credit that time served, allowing Assange to immediately return to Australia, his native country.

“Julian Assange is free. He left Belmarsh maximum security prison on the morning of 24 June, after having spent 1901 days there. He was granted bail by the High Court in London and was released at Stansted airport during the afternoon, where he boarded a plane and departed the UK,” WikiLeaks said a Tuesday statement.

If you call hounding an individual by super-power states 'punishment'...

The whole saga makes a mockery of the US Constitution and arse-lickers out of those governments that colluded in their peoples' name, with revenge-seeking US Administrations.

Single felony count where Assange will likely plead guilty to unlawfully obtaining and disseminating classified information relating to the national defence of the United States.

How is making public the footage of American soldiers murdering Iraqi nationals, in Iraq, a form of national defence of the United States?

Assange urgently needs to join Snowden in Russia.
Only there can he feel safe from further unjust persecution by the Anglo-Khazarian political mafia.

You don't know the psychology of Americans. Once they have it in their heads that a foreigner is accused of something, they are going for the throat. Assange would have gone missing if he fronted court to face charges. Americans don't like foreigners pointing out American stupidity.

And Americans have such a superiority complex that Americans will jump at any faults and failure of their perceived enemies. If Assange fronted an American court, Assange would have been lynched before he the trial started.

It's very interesting how Yobbos hate any Aussie who rises above the level of obidient mediocre convict mentality
to become a world-renowned personality. The same thing happened to Robert Hughes, Jeffrey Smart,
now Julian Assange and so on. I suppose this is typical of the legacy of Britain's penal colonial status.
Sad very barbarically sad.

You should take a lesson from Spiderman's Uncle Ben: "With great power comes great responsibility". Assange held video footage of American soldiers committing murder, taking place in Iraq. Assange should have brought this video to the attention of proper authorities, independent of the military. Releasing this video to the public would have the friends, family, and victims of the massacre rally support to exacerbate violence against the United States army.

Whilst I have no problem having those involved in the massacre held to account. But, do report concerns properly with the appropriate authority. We don't want the good members of the American military (and the allies, for that matter) getting held accountable for the ratbag element of the U.S. military.

Good on Assange.
A modern day hero who exposed the corruption of the United States corrupt political ways.
He was then hunted down by the USA's revenge policies who used its power to exploit other nations to fabricate false (again corruption) crimes against him.

Australia's Prime Ministers were all too eager to support the USA and condemn one of their own citizens.

Anyone and everyone has the right to expose and whistle blow any corruption from any nation - even their own.

What we saw was a gutless and cowardly Australian Government(s) suck the dick of the USA to ruin the life of one of their own citizens.
The USA is not even part of the Commonwealth and yet, through the Prime Ministers, Australia serves the USA (Rogue, Privatised Political system based upon the politics of Italy, France and formerly German, more than the British way) - more than it serves the Commonwealth.

All that Assange exposed was proven to be correct and yet the 'truth' is a USA political lie for its about 'power', not the truth.

Australian Republicans are a bunch of Lefties and Media Celebrities that use English 'Royalty' (of the Entertainment Industry because Kings & Queens are 'Masters of Ceremony', not Military 'Emperors' or Political Ministers) as their excuse and justification for a 'political' change here.  Roll Eyes Let alone just riding an Irish (anti-English) cliche Republic as their platform of reform. How original Roll Eyes

Australia's 'Independence' is not against Great Britain (Political) and the United Kingdom (Royal Ceremonialism) - it's really against this rogue fake-Political entity called the USA - the most invasive (and corrupt) nation on the planet.

Australia's Independence is from being the USA's 51st or even 52nd State.
Australia's Independence is from the USA and that is what the world is waiting for - Australia to beat the USA and it's corrupt fake Politics that so many nations do not trust or adhere to, even at the cost of being called an 'enemy' by the USA and getting attacked.

This is why the world is Politically stuffed. Because the USA is currently the Fake Political god. Until the USA rejects it's German, French and Italian (+Greek) Political ways and reclaims the British way - which it rejected long ago. It will always be the Lie, not the Truth.

...Assange showed that its America who is the Criminal nation - not Australia.  Wink

It is a typical act of intellectual, political, cultural, and economic subservience of Australians (closet poms) and a symbol of their belief in the genetic superiority of UK Aboriginals to closet poms.

Assange should be welcomed home as a hero who exposed imperialism’s grisly workings

.........

An alternative view to that of former ASIO director and former  Oz ambassador to the US Denniss Richardson who thinks we have to be forever planning for the next war to "preserve our freedoms" (sic) .

He was on ABC radio today bleating about Albo welcoming Assange home to Oz.

Typical "freedom or death" conservative neanderthal "security" spook, can't conceive of  an international rules based system to avoid war (As Doc Evatt envisioned: via a UNSC without veto).

Nothing to do with anyone rising above mediocre. More to do with his absolute disdain for the lives of those he put at risk just so he could get his name up in lights. In the end he didn't even know what information he was releasing, he said he didn't have the resources to go through it all. He just released it because he could.

Or listening to this Murdoch's "journalist" I have no choice but to agree with what you said.
99% of the world considers Assange a noble man who sacrificed himself for the sake of truth. History will remember him as the Socrates of the 21st century, while people like this Sky Parrot will be remembered as irrelevant puppets of their satanic masters.

You think Assange jeopardized the discovery of the crimes of those who were sent tens of thousands
of kilometers from their Anglo Disneylands to kill innocent civilians they had never seen in their lives.
Sorry, but that is a very weak justification with no moral basis.
