Absolutely love the brand and it's rise.

Love the car, it's just so zipped!

Couldn't care less if I save the environment at all. Just into the whole revolution away from combustion old motors.

Not a very lot has really changed under the bonnet since first Ford.

I appreciate cheaper options are on the horizon but it's tax time for me.

My next major car purchase, hopefully will be the Prado plug in hybrid.

I don't care if the electric range is low, it will be enough for most of my daily driving.

Unless something more interesting comes along

A good friend of mine has a BYD - it's a sweet ride.

He drives it to Albany, which is 400km away.

He recharges at Williams, which is about half way.

I've done the drive with him, and the BYD is a lovely smooth ride - I have no complaints.

But for me, I still need a gas-guzzling combustion engine when I'm the driver.

I'm sure I'll go electric one day, but not today.

I'm happy with my 2.7l DOHC diesel turbo V6 - gives 937 km to the tank (74 l) and is smooth as and pretty non-smelly.  Less emissions per tank than the fuels burned to charge your lecco ... I also hear the building cost is huge on those things.

Not against them on principle, but I just don't see them as practical for what I need a vehicle for.

ADDS:-  On the long flat open runs out Peccary's way it would be even better on fuel.

On a more general note, remember to assume that everything the salesman tells you is a lie. Even the petty stuff where you cannot think of any good reason he might have to lie to you, he is lying because he is too lazy to find out the correct answer to your question.

All cars depreciate, some more than others.

Your BYD depreciation will be huge.

Factor that in amd you'll be way ahead with an ICE Toyota or Mazda

Well I didn't drive away happy, in fact I didn't drive away at all.

Arrived a hour late for my appointment ( I blame the government but actually the females in my house are the culprits).

The " experience centre" was super busy but I still receive excellent customer service and was fully advise of wait times ,etc.

Females loved the car ( I was already sold) so the confirmation was positive.

Still waiting we enjoyed the cup cakes offered, did I mention the customer service was excellent just totally overwhelmed?

Daughter became ill after two hours so I politely said we had to leave and agreement that they would contact me.

On the way home I rang the local Toyota and asked about the yarris, again, quality honest customer service and was told a 6 to 12 month waiting list😳

I'll check in with my local Mazda dealer next week.

Any negative thoughts about Honda?

Note I'm very vibe orientation.

If it's not right I've learnt walk. It's a gut feeling thing for me.

I was pleasantly surprised at the level of customer service I received at both byd and Toyota.

If it's your first dive into the idea perhaps confirm your actually residential power supply specifications first is my suggestion. You can go through the EV selection process of car on car comparison all you like but charging them at home requires a certain level of power that may surprise you.

I just went through a whole process here in WA that turned into such a costly reality I canned the whole idea of Solar Power installation altogether.

It all came down to Amperage: I have a granny flat and main house which the gov wants more of to help with the housing crisis and introduced special easy approval for over here in WA as part of the solution. When it comes to power supply however, that effectively means the big drawers are doubled up. Two ovens, two hotplates, two hot-water systems, multiple split systems air cons etc. It turns out that the new regs from Western Power over here, insist all new solar installs or changes to existing systems, require supply restriction via installation of 63 Amp Circuit Breaker at the main switch. This meant adding an EV charger and or Pool Heat pump could never happen on my forcibly newly reduced 63Amps standard residential system supply, if I installed the solar system.. I had 3 electricians and Western Power confirm the reality. I had no choice but to can the whole idea unless I included a high cost power upgrade (many thousands) that had problematic phase load splitting requirements anyway and Western Power themselves advised me to cancel the Solar install.

It's an interesting conundrum whereby leaders want everyone ditching gas etc and going all electric, including charging EVs at home, and putting more homes on one supply line etc, whilst concomitantly reducing the amount of electrical supply you can have!!

Always a good idea to get two dealers to complete against each other. Many years ago, I think 2007, the Ford Territory ghia was ticketed at $56k each.  I was buying 2 for the company so I had an advantage,  but I just went back and forth from one to the other until I got down to 46k each. Both dealers knew what i was doing.

I also got nearly 10k back in gst that month from it so I was up 30k.

How big are the batteries, and do they attract sharks?
