On a more general note, remember to assume that everything the salesman tells you is a lie. Even the petty stuff where you cannot think of any good reason he might have to lie to you, he is lying because he is too lazy to find out the correct answer to your question.

I remember wanting to remove a spoiler from the back of a Commodore when ordering a new one way back when.

Salesman said no problem, the boys can do that.  Got near the end of the process and the Sales manager called me saying it wasn't possible because there is a law requiring eye-level brake lights, which was incorporated into the spoiler and they have to install what I'd call a cyclops in the back window for an additional 3K that they weren't willing to absorb.

They handled it very poorly and the initial salesman after getting caught in the bugger up left me a threatening voicemail as if I'd done something wrong haha.

Needless to say, cancelled the order, got the deposit back after a threatening letter from my lawyer and I've been buying Toyota ever since.

Eye level brake lights? I think they made that one up.

It sounded made up, but it's been a requirement since like 1989.

I'm using "eye level break lights" but it's probably more accurate to call it "a central high mounted stop lamp" and it's an ADR requirement.

Good idea.

Side Note:-  " Re: going to buy an elect... " ... looks like:-  'Going to buy an election' in a State election year.

Going with the Dolphin from byd.

Absolutely love the brand and it's rise.

Love the car, it's just so zipped!

Couldn't care less if I save the environment at all. Just into the whole revolution away from combustion old motors.

Not a very lot has really changed under the bonnet since first Ford.

I appreciate cheaper options are on the horizon but it's tax time for me.

See you all at traffic lights!

In my rear view mirror 😁

then you're a DH. plain & simple.

A good friend of mine has a BYD - it's a sweet ride.

He drives it to Albany, which is 400km away.

He recharges at Williams, which is about half way.

I've done the drive with him, and the BYD is a lovely smooth ride - I have no complaints.

But for me, I still need a gas-guzzling combustion engine when I'm the driver.

I'm sure I'll go electric one day, but not today.

Goodo ... more Chinese shyte.

What turns me off an EV is limited range of travel, and needing to find a charge station, and in our travels we look at them and see “out of order” so I says to the hubby…and if an EV needed charging and this is out of order… what then?
Also, it’s how long re-charging takes when driving out and about.
Some are fast charging… some are not.
And if you come across a charging hub for charge, and others are there before you… there’s the waiting game.
Bring some reading material while you wait.
If it were just driving around local and easy to charge at home, then maybe I will get one, but not yet.
Funny how Hertz in the USA are getting rid of all their car hire EVs because of high repair/maintenance costs.
I also heard the value of EVs have dropped a lot….

The average car loses 14 per cent of its value in its first two years, according to new research that says the average electric car plunges by 42 per cent over the same period.11

Because of battery life & replacement costs 2nd hand EVs aren't worth shyte.

If people think going EV is saving the planet then they are deluded numpties.

I'm happy with my 2.7l DOHC diesel turbo V6 - gives 937 km to the tank (74 l) and is smooth as and pretty non-smelly.  Less emissions per tank than the fuels burned to charge your lecco ... I also hear the building cost is huge on those things.

Not against them on principle, but I just don't see them as practical for what I need a vehicle for.

ADDS:-  On the long flat open runs out Peccary's way it would be even better on fuel.

Brand, year & model graps ... if you would?

A 2.7ltr diesel turboV6 that gets 937 klms on 74 ltrs?

Sorry mate ... I don't believe ya.

I've got a 2008 Nissan 4 cyl 2.5 turbo common rail diesel 4x4 with an 80 ltr tank that's never done better than 540 klms.

Excuse my skepticism.

Grappler's fantasies are heading for a head-on collision with Gordon's fantasies. A lot of sh!t would be shed in such an incident.

Well I didn't drive away happy, in fact I didn't drive away at all.

Arrived a hour late for my appointment ( I blame the government but actually the females in my house are the culprits).

The " experience centre" was super busy but I still receive excellent customer service and was fully advise of wait times ,etc.

Females loved the car ( I was already sold) so the confirmation was positive.

Still waiting we enjoyed the cup cakes offered, did I mention the customer service was excellent just totally overwhelmed?

Daughter became ill after two hours so I politely said we had to leave and agreement that they would contact me.

On the way home I rang the local Toyota and asked about the yarris, again, quality honest customer service and was told a 6 to 12 month waiting list😳

I'll check in with my local Mazda dealer next week.

Any negative thoughts about Honda?

Note I'm very vibe orientation.

If it's not right I've learnt walk. It's a gut feeling thing for me.

I was pleasantly surprised at the level of customer service I received at both byd and Toyota.

Sales people only have two hands, just like the rest of us

If you are keen to get it faster, ring around the local dealerships. I was told the same thing about stock levels by Mitsubishi - nothing available, price will go up with the next model, order ASAP etc. Then I rang around and found two dealers with the vehicle I wanted in stock, and negotiated $2000 off from one of them.

They will be very polite and 'helpful' to you, while lying through their teeth. Those cupcakes are a poor substitute for the truth.
