Yeah sad, what a silly way to due though, prob shouldn't be walking in Temps like that.

It’s devastating… he looked so healthy and was such an influential health guru …

It's a very sad story, that's for sure.  Tragic loss.

I have to say though, I've never heard of the guy.

I checked out all of his TV shows/specials on Wiki, and I've never heard of any of them.

Was he just popular in the UK?

Heatstroke is bad news. In the Bradford soccer grandstand fire in UK, a man walked away from the fire and fell over instantly dead.

Gosh no, his programmes were televised in Melbourne for years, his shows were very medically scientific and educational. He was such a lovely down to earth happy person.
I enjoyed his shows. If you get a chance to see his shows from past, you will see what he was like and was so well liked.

He, being English and from what I’ve read was 40 deg on that Greek island, even if he were still alive/unconscious… having been out in the heat for days/nights… would be perishing for anyone!
And wearing dark/black colours isn’t helping the body to stay cool under a hot sun.
I thought earlier why wear black and have a black umbrella … then I remembered the English are like us in Melbourne, black fashions are just the thing.
When I go interstate to Qld I have to remind myself not to wear Melbourne black too much!

Post mortem information reveals a clearer idea of how he came to pass away.
Makes me think about what Gordon wrote, wondering if the doctor had breakfast etc that day or if it was a fasting day, hence not too well in searing heat.
I think it pays to not just have water with you but a snack for emergency sustenance. I’m sure Bear Grylls would agree.
And ALWAYS a mobile phone … don’t leave it back in motel room! Could make a difference between life and death.

Also, re: his diabetes as discussions leaned towards…here is a statement about it…

The best explanation I've read us his type 2 diabetes made him more susceptible to dehydration and blood sugar spikes so he probably collapsed then perished in the extreme heat.

As a doctor, he should have known he was more vulnerable.

As a type 2 diabetic, my only issue with dehydration is if I go without water for long periods of time after exercising considerably. Mowing the lawn for an hour, you bet I will be under the fan drinking down a bottle of water. But, if I went for a walk and got lost, I would be sure that I could manage through 6 hours without needing a drink of water.

A doctor should be able to know how to seek out help or find their way back to where they came. Something is amiss if an adult could not find out where he is when he is close to other people.

You have considerable reserves to draw from.

Not sure what you mean. Despite having a current respiratory infection -- actually, it cleared up this morning -- I was out last night in 10°C temperatures walking around a 4km course. Needing to rehydrate at the halfway mark, I drank about 400mL of water. If this was the middle of the day, I would have finished that canister of water in one sitting. But, then again, I am not walking around a Greek island with no apparent knowledge of where I am.

Dr Mosley must have had a medical episode and was delirious. After many hours of wandering aimlessly, Mosley would have succumbed to heat exhaustion. He would have died in the next 24 hours after that.
