No wind chimes anywhere near me at the moment but we used to have a small set of our own many years ago.

They never bothered us or any of the neighbours.

Now, let's do reversing beepers on trucks and other vehicles which are always a lot of 'fun' to listen to especially when there's several vehicles using them on the same building site or roadworks and especially at night if you're within about a 1km distance from them.

I mean - why are these annoying beepers needed anyway? Shouldn't the workers be using some of that awesome "personal responsibility" aquascoot keeps telling us about and making sure they're watching out for reversing vehicles?

The windchimes at my place were taken down years ago. I stored them somewhere around the house. Today's thorough clean of the house will reveal where I put them. I intend to hang them up again.

A short length of railway line struck with a hammer is very effective. The old circular dinner gongs aren't too bad either and the sound carries well at night. An axe used on a 4wd just makes a dull sound.

Russian tubes are 6.2, 7 and 8 m. long for smaller missiles and 23 m. for the deeper sounds. These are heard in Ukrainian cities and include bright lights and reverberation.  They can damage buildings, cars, humans and private chimes.

I made small wind chimes once, they are hanging up in the shed … might take a photo and show ya’s  Smiley
Re: constant beeping noises… there’s a particular maccas that has a very annoying constant beeping… others we’ve stopped at for cuppa, don’t have that noise…. Must be something wrong with that one!
I comment to girls serving “how can you stand that loud beeping noise!”
They don’t say much, just sorta “yeah” ….
You know what, they’re probably too afraid to say boo ….so I’m going to write to head office to mention what noise pollution it is, how unpleasant it is for customers, that it must be truly horrid for the young workers there. That this particular place is the worst we’ve encountered in our travels.

The beeping could be the signal for slow service to warn the employees to hurry up. Beeping annoys them so they slow down. .....

You hate me don’t you?

The only reason you hang these pain makers around is too torture your neighbour!

You likely drive a 4wd too but never ever off the tar.

A pox on you and your noisey wind chimes!

Your not Buddhist, your just inconsiderate!

If your neighbors wind chimes can be heard at a level to annoy you then you live too close/in an intense housing area.

I have 3 hanging in the front area of my house and we hardly hear them unless it's blowing a gale.

You must be a tnuc of a neighbour?

And I have 2 Nissan 4WD utes and a Honda CRV.

If I could afford it I'd have a V8 LANDCRUISER wagon & a caravan. Grin

You and my son would definitely get along.  He has the V8 Landcruiser and the BIG caravan. Plus 3 other cars, 2 of which are classic cars from the early 70s which are his pride and joy. And he recently sold his ute and then regretted it the minute it was driven out of the driveway.

And they also have the windchimes!  Those huge clanging ones - every time I go up there the first thing I do is go out to the deck and take the clapper (they're actually a percussion instrument) and hang it up on top the chimes.  It stays there till I leave!

They cause industrial deafness like the car woofers which can be heard from 2 blocks away or bikes with no muffler.  At least the 4wd owners do use a muffler as they shuttle back and forth to  park.
