The 'practical reasons' based on 'realism' amount to might is right , unless you can show otherwise.

But real might is really right.

Just careful.

They know ruzzia will move onto the next rank of countries if they manage to capture all of Ukraine. Take 50 years or more and ruzzia and ruzzians be bankrupt by then, not far of it now.

And the ruzzian population keeps declining and the demographic trap awaiting it keeps growing despite all the thousands of Ukrainian children kidnapped by ruzzia.

ruzzia is a nazi state.

ruzzia is nearly a failed state.

I think everyone knows Trump has done a deal and Ukrainian people have been deserted as a result.

It’s all over red rover.

The peace  plan isn’t up for debate.

They have been sold out.’

I don’t care about Australians who are living in poverty or their businesses have gone bankrupt or those working hard and still struggling to survive.

BAN THE BURKA!

That’s fair more important!

The Great Imperial Crown of Russian Empire (Russian: Большая императорская корона Российской Империи), was used for the coronation of the monarchs of Russia from 1762 and is currently on display in Moscow at the Kremlin Armoury's State Diamond Fund.

So much for Trumpy the old narcissist‘s idiotic “peace plan.”

Ukraine is negotiating to buy American military helicopters. This will transform the situation.

Notice that there is no legal obligation for any NATO party to do anything.   Roll Eyes

https://www.nato.int/en/what-we-do/introduction-to-nato/collective-defence-and-a...

Article 5

“The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognized by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties,
such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force,
to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.

Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Security Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain international peace and security.”

Life after Putin – How to Rebuild a Broken Russia.

Huge challenges.

Damage from the Ukraine war:

1. Deaths of a million or so ruzzians, more maimed with mangled bodies and/or minds

2. A ruined economy

3. Ruined infrastructure, partly from the war, partly from Soviet-era infrastructure, not maintained, breaking down—sewage gushing down streets etc.

4. How to turn the population from a cowed mob into a constructive force

It means there is no difference between Ukraine in NATO and outside NATO. If Putin marches into London, the Peace Prize winner and Venezuela bomber could ignore Putin.

Ukraine's population - 42 million before the full-scale invasion in February 2022 - has already shrunk to below 36 million, including several million in areas captured by Russia, according to the demography institute at Ukraine's National Academy of Sciences.
It estimates the figure will drop to 25 million by 2051.
The collapse is gathering pace.
The country has both the highest death rates and lowest birth rates in the world, according to 2024 estimates in the CIA World Factbook: for every birth there are around three deaths.

As I said there has been practical reason based on realism of real politic for that.

The 'practical reasons' based on 'realism' amount to might is right , unless you can show otherwise.

But real might is really right.

Your error: might doesn't concern itself with universal rights (eg as outlined in the UNUDHR); and being self-interested, is indifferent to justice.

I note you are barracking for Putin - who would collapse if faced with the might  of a united NATO.

Difference between you and I is that I am realist and look at real facts in the real world while you fantasize about world the way you wold like it to be.

Quote:
Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever states outright: Russia will not be defeated. In an interview with La Libre, he called such expectations “a fairy tale and a complete illusion”, and asserted that frozen Russian assets will eventually be returned to the Kremlin.
This stance from a key EU leader challenges prevailing Western narratives. It raises questions about the future of sanctions, geopolitical realignments, and the shifting credibility of economic pressure as a tool.
For BRICS nations watching closely, this signals potential fractures in Western unity and opens strategic room in a multipolar world.
