This Ukraine war is most stupid event to ever happen since WW2.
Putin of all people is old enough to know about the horrors and futility of war.
He would have grown up with the stories as a child, being told to him on a regular basis
and learning all about it at school.
He would have suffered the poverty from the recovery from WW2
and the great loss of treasure from the cold war -
which left Russia impoverished as they tried and couldn't compete with the USA.
Even today Russia has an economy only about double the size of Italy or Australia – it's small -
nothing compared to Europe and the USA combined.
Now he has taken them all on in a war he can't win -
just by dollar numbers alone.
Russia is way behind in technology too -
the high tech NATO weapons are killing his troops by about 1,000 per day.

‘Loophole’ in sanctions allowing Russian oil to be imported to Australia through port part-owned by Macquarie Bank
Australia stopped buying fuel directly from Russia after its invasion of Ukraine but has imported more than 3m tonnes of its oil products since 2023.

Millions of tonnes of Russian oil have been traded through a port part-owned by Macquarie Bank and potentially sold on to Australian businesses, new data shows.

The identification of a new link between Australia and the trade in Russian-origin products exposes further gaps in government sanctions, as Australia lags behind the EU and the UK in tightening import rules.

Australia stopped buying fuel directly from Russia after its invasion of Ukraine but has imported more than 3m tonnes of Russian-originating oil products since 2023, the Europe-based Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (Crea) has found.

Australia’s sanctions allow purchases via third countries, which Crea’s Europe analyst Vaibhav Raghunandan said had indirectly supported Russia’s oil production and the Kremlin’s tax revenues.

“This is a significant loophole being exploited by Australian buyers who, while on the right side of the law, are undoubtedly on the wrong side of the ethics of it,” Raghunandan said.


“It clearly undermines Australia’s support for Ukraine.

Russia launched a large-scale aerial attack on Kyiv overnight on Nov. 13-14, battering the capital with hundreds of drones and multiple missiles, killing at least six people and injuring at least 29 others.

Nine of the injured victims — including one pregnant woman — have been hospitalized. Two children, ages 7 and 10, are among the injured, local authorities reported.

"A wicked attack," President Volodymyr Zelensky tweeted. "About 430 drones and 18 missiles were used in the strike, including ballistic and aeroballistic missiles."

"Sadly, four people have been killed," he added. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko later revised the death toll up to six having earlier said casualty reports were delayed as suspected fatalities were trapped under rubble.
