The Ukrainian leader said Trump had discussed taking ownership of the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the rare earths, the 76 Ukrainian banks, wheat industry and Zelenskyy's cars and wife. Zelenskyy who is on 28 drugs agreed and signed Donald's great big deal. Donald will move on Taiwan then retire.

The kernel of truth in that attempted comedic genius is that Zelensky has to bribe Trump. Let him try to run Ukraine’s power industry, promise a deal on rare metals etc with Trumpy getting a cut. None of it need ever happen.

Can anyone explain this?

Many countries in Europe have the F-35 stealth fighter bomber aircraft
including the UK, Holland, Finland, Italy, Poland, Greece, Norway, Denmark etc.

Why haven't any of them secretly used their F-35s to help Ukraine?

They could take out Russian air defences such as the S-300 and S-400 SAM systems.
They could have flown secretly to Ukraine -
they are stealth aircraft - they can't be seen on radar -
refueled at a military airport and continued on to attack Russian targets.
Only a few people would ever know about it -
no need to put it in the news or advertise it -
just a bit of assistance here and there for Ukraine to help them win.
With air defences and radars taken out - Ukraine would have been free
to attack the Russians using air power on Ukrainian territory.

Why are the Europeans playing this game with such a straight bat? -
especially the POMs
All is fair in love and war.

Zelenskyy bribing? Not at all. The idea is all Donald's.  Putin probably owns Zaporizhzhia at present which makes an interesting crime-gang turf war.  Ukraine is into state corruption and Zelenskyy talks the talk.

So rather than helping Ukraine defend themselves, to keep a buffer between Russia and the West, you're now advocating for Europe to get involved to the point of actually triggering WW3?

My how you've flip flopped all over the place on this subject...

I can't believe you need this explaining to you...  Has your transition to Russian-sympathiser finally reached it's crescendo?

Because Russia has a long history of expansionism and destabilisation, having a buffer between it and the West is just common sense. Look at how they’ve invaded Georgia, Crimea, and now Ukraine, every time they see an opening, they push further. A strong Ukraine acts as a frontline, stopping Russia from directly pressuring NATO countries and making it harder for them to spread influence unchecked.

Beyond military threats, Russia right now is suffering economically largely because it invaded Ukraine.   Russia’s economy has been struggling under sanctions, corruption, and a reliance on resource exports, but if they took all of Ukraine, they’d gain a massive industrial base, agricultural land, and millions of workers to prop up their system. Ukraine’s economy is one of the largest in Europe in terms of resources, and absorbing it would not only help Russia recover but also make it far more self-sufficient, reducing the effectiveness of Western sanctions.

At the same time, the US economy has been slipping, especially since Trump took office. His policies have weakened domestic stability, and after his recent talks with Putin in mid-February, Russia’s economy has actually started strengthening while the US falters. If this trend continues, it’s not just about Russia reclaiming influence in its region, they could position themselves as a rising superpower while the US declines. Allowing them to take Ukraine unchallenged would accelerate that shift dramatically.

As much as I take issue with Trump’s assault on his own people, I’d still rather see the US remain the dominant global superpower than let Russia or China take the lead. But Trump, either through incompetence or design, is actively working to weaken the US while propping up Russia, paving the way for its resurgence at America’s expense.

This isn’t just about Ukraine or some hollow “peace deal” that Russia won’t honour. It’s about the broader geopolitical balance. If Trump keeps undermining the US while enabling Moscow, we’re looking at a world where Russia seizes the advantage, and Washington willingly hands it to them, all so MAGA can avoid confronting the fact that their hero is selling them out.

That all sounds fine until you scratch the surface and ask things like who was president when Putin invaded Crimea and who was president when Putin invaded Ukraine.

Your TDS is showing.

We're not playing a blame game here, that's your TDS showing friend, simply because Trump's current actions aren't great and you're compelled to defend him.

What's more important is what is done now.

Who is or was the President has no bearing on the need for a buffer between the West and Russia.

'Afghanistan's border was drawn in the late 19th century, when Afghanistan became a strategic buffer zone between the expanding Russian and British empires during the "Great Game", with the British, concerned about Russian encroachment, sought a border with British India, resulting in the Durand Line'.

The EU line could be say 1km wide either side of the fence, north to south, Arctic to Black Sea. Tactical nuke land-mines would be convincing.

Yes - I am always in two minds about it.
It seems to me that Europe could have done a hell of lot more to help Ukraine.
The question is why they didn't? -
especially since help using the F-35 could be secret.

Your motivation for caring about this line now is not for concern about Ukraine but to defend Trump.

You won't get any where if that's call you care about.
