Tasmania: Not a part of Australia (Read 325 times)

Jasin Gold Member Offline Posts: 57954 Gender:	Tasmania: Not a part of Australia May 8^th, 2024 at 8:01pm Interesting geological history on Tasmania - which is geologically more associated with Arizona (N.America) and Antarctica than the continent of Australia. If there's any reason why Tasmania should be its own separate Nation, then here's another.

Nor did I. I thought it was 'always' part of the Australian continent - but no. It is its own 'country' and geological identity. If Tassie goes independent as a separate nation - they could call the land NUNA after the billion+ supercontinent it was born from.

Even if most of the blasts were in the northern hemisphere. Eventually the Radiation would make its way south and Tassie would be fried. The inbreds there with 6 fingers would have even more mutations.

There are some real scary implications in these processes when you consider that progressive plate moves could have moved Tasmania from the north pole to the bottom of Australie which was at that time in the northern hemisphere.

Yep. Add another 'billion' years from before Pangaea (which is the supercontinent that reformed from the parts that broke up from the supercontinent Nuno long before) and 'Tasmania' was still there. Tasmania (or what is left of it) is very 'old' indeed.

There are parts of the world, where the land hasn't been subducted down into the mantle. The north-eastern part of Western Australia (Pilbara) is considered 'the oldest unchanged' land on the planet with an Hadean-Archean Era of 4.5 BILLION years old.

Hence why we 'mine' the oldest land, like we chop down the oldest forests. Can't have them existing anymore, eh?
