“When asked if Labor was heading for a wipe-out at the state election on Friday, Mr Miles conceded his government was heading for defeat.

"There's no great surprise in these numbers," he said.”

Whilst not a Queenslander anymore, I look at Labor in Victoria and the questionable alternative in Opposition at the moment.   I quess the question that Queenslanders need to ask themselves is will they be better or worse off under an alternative party?   I remember the disaster of the Newman party when I lived in Cairns and I also remember the disaster of the Liberal party in Victoria.

It may well be time for Labor to go - but will the Opposition be any better or is this just an expensive protest that will change nothing?

Libs will most likely win, but they'll be another one term wonder.

Well there's 6 States and a few Territories in Australia.
So there should be just the same amount of Political Parties to choose from.
Instead, its like just NSW & Victoria running the country all the time.

With those two choices - it's no wonder....

Newmans right hand man stands to be the new premier.
Everything old will be new again!

Why labor basically gave up and put giggles in charge is up for a guess?

There are a few( very few) decent people in Qld labor who may have held the line but they choose giggles?

The lnp doesn’t even have to try, just let giggles speak and everyone will abandon labor!

I think the same, but having said that, look at it this way. A Liberal government in QLD and VIC could hardly make things any worse than Labor already has, surely? I also look at things this way in the United States. Those poor Yanks have got to choose between what will almost certainly be a contest between a geriatric Biden and a corrupt to his bones Trump. What sort of choice is that? I really feel sorry for Americans coming into the November election. It really is a farce that the American Constitution will allow a convicted felon to run for and be sworn in as President (even from prison, hypothetically) but not a naturalised American like former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, for example. What a joke!

Looks like "Giggles" is pulling out all the stops to try and avoid what looks like certain defeat in the Queensland State election later this year.

* $1,000 credit for everyone's power bills.
* 50 cent fares on public transport for 6 months.
* Freezing all government fees and charges for 2024-25.
* Except rego – which he's cutting by 20%.
* Lifting the stamp duty threshold for first home buyers from $500,000 to $700,000.
* $200 vouchers for sport and active recreation for EVERY Queensland kid.

And quite possibly a few more to come.

Of course, many gullible voters will fall for this (as usual) but I wonder if it will be enough to win "Giggles" the election?

Just shows how much contempt the pollies have for us and how they think we're stupid enough to vote for them after they do this before every election (and the majority are).

Needless to say, no one will be thinking ahead to what next year's budget will be like (regardless of which party wins the election) when they try to make up what they're losing this year with all of these 'giveaways'.

But, having said that, it's a pity we didn't have State (and Federal) elections EVERY year with all these 'giveaways'.

I have my doubts Crisafulli & the LNP will be any better.

Under Crisafulli they would just be "Labor Light". He's anti- nuclear. So will continue to push the lunatic re-newables agenda.

You are completely correct imo.

He failed as a Newman minister and has nothing actually to offer other than not being giggles.

Why do we have such a low level of talent to choose from when politicians have never been paid better?
