Let's see if there's a shark/croc hyperbole used in Australia.

"I'd rather swim in shark-infested waters"

"I'd rather camp near croc-infested waterholes"

I'm guessing there won't be.

Those are not equatable scenarios.

Why would that be? They're all apex predators.

Because nobody has suggested the woods are "infested" with bears.

One bear. Of indeterminate species. In the woods.

Maybe an old blind bear with three legs, then...

From one extreme to the other ... bypassing all points of logic.

I was hopeful for a moment there. You appeared to have an actual revelation. Alas, no cigar.

Just highlighting the stupidity of the hyperbolic hysteria... As you did by specifying 'One bear. Of indeterminate species'.

I think you've quite the nerve accusing anyone else of hyperbole in this thread, Ecky.

I can't believe such a simple hypothetical question has turned into such a clusterbugger.

It's hilarious   Grin

So now we're at "I'd rather be with a tame and timid bear than with a man".

You're really not doing very well at this.

At no point have i stated my preference.

Yet more hyperbole. Just to consolidate my point.

You're a blue-hairs, stupid hyperbole is where you live...

As you've stated, it's about a specific bear in specific circumstances... apparently!

No, one was walking along a creek and the other camping,  and i doubt either have a clue what US/Canadian guidelines are.

So they didn't encounter and hang out with wild bears, then.

Kept their distance, did they? Or did they run up and try to give them a cuddle?

There was no need for you to cement your stupidity.

You can't possibly be that stupid

Can you show anywhere in the OP where it was suggested anyone hug a bear?

So it's now, "I'd rather be within safe proximity of a bear (unless it's tame, timid and/or old) with a can of bear repellent and a gun, than with a man".
