It was Mossad spies releasing drones inside Iran for surveillance on the nuclear sites.

Iran says no retaliation planned, as both sides seek distance from Isfahan attack

Ben Gvir tweets alleged reprisal was ‘lame,’ drawing complaints of endangering security
by revealing origin of strike, even as Iran indicates it will look the other way

By ToI Staff and Agencies Today, 12:24 pm

Iran has no plan for immediate retaliation against Israel, a senior Iranian official said Friday, as officials in Jerusalem indicated that an alleged drone attack on a city south of Tehran was meant to send a signal rather than cause damage.

The official also cast doubt on whether Israel was behind the attack in Isfahan, despite comments from some Israeli politicians practically accepting responsibility.

Together with a subdued response from official Iranian media organs, the senior official’s comments indicated that Tehran may be uninterested in risking war to make good on threats that it would attack Israel should it retaliate for a weekend missile and drone attack, and was seeking a way to avoid being held to the bellicose promises.

“The foreign source of the incident has not been confirmed,” the Iranian official said on condition of anonymity. “We have not received any external attack, and the discussion leans more toward infiltration than attack.”

They added that Iran has no plan to strike back immediately over the attack.

Washington wrestles with ‘new equation’ of direct attacks between Iran and Israel

By Alex Marquardt and Katie Bo Lillis, CNN

Assessing the true impact of Iran’s attack

In the days following the attack on Israel, some analysts suggested that Iran may have deliberately sought to avoid casualties in an effort to keep the situation from escalating; Pentagon officials stridently rejected that hypothesis.

On Saturday, Israel and its allies were able to destroy 99 percent of the Iranian projectiles before they impacted. There was little damage in Israel, and no deaths. That, combined with public and diplomatic signaling by Iran in the days leading up to the attack, has caused similar theories about Iran’s intent to circulate Washington this week.

But administration officials — as well as McKenzie and other former officials — have denied the suggestion that Iran was pulling its punches this time, either. The sheer scale of the assault itself suggests that Iran intended to kill Israelis, officials and analysts said. In many ways, Saturday was a triumph of years of military planning done in preparation for precisely this kind of hypothetical assault.

But air defense against such a vast array of threats is a complex and difficult operation, and although Israel and its allies were successful, that success was in no way a foregone conclusion, current and former officials say.

“The Iranians used the crown jewels,” McKenzie said. “Their ballistic missiles, drones, and land attack cruise missiles. And what they launched was a maximum effort, about as much as they could do. This was not signaling.”

Now, Washington and the region await Iran’s response to the Israeli counterstrike.

The risk, officials say, is profound.

“Israel and Iran are going to be starting higher on the escalatory ladder for every future moment of conflict and that is incredibly dangerous,” said Panikoff. “If Israel and Iran have a greater threat perception of each other, they’re more likely to think they have to act in a more robust and aggressive way.”

Iran released pics of what they claim were the drones they shot down. The toys they posted pics of have range of around 300m and can't carry anything heavier than a camera.

It appears IDF fired missiles from plane outside of Iranian air space and took out Russian made S300 missile launcher and radar it uses in Isfahan.
I have seen satellite pics showing before and after.

Israel has just proved the best Russian made air defences are useless.

Have you got a link for those pics?

I saw some but they were so low res that you couldn't tell anything.

The military of the USA and Israel never release full res images from satellites.

Israel has taken the superior position of upping the ante with Iran.
Now we see the Media's bias to Politics as it desperately propagandises its fear of being undermined by the more Military Culturally Middle-East, more than any other Region on the planet and that includes North America (Politics). Joe Biden's words are ineffectual and condescending remarks of arrogance as if his country is 'in charge' of the more Military Middle-East. Netanyahu is more loyal to his Israel than to the likes of Joe Biden. Hence the negative Media propaganda against Netanyahu calling him a Dictator, etc. Joe Biden is not in charge of Netanyhu or Israel for that matter. The USA's second mistake is it actions of thinking it is the one authority Politically, than the United Nations. Talk about an over-achiever.  Roll Eyes

Israel and Iran gradually raised the stakes and now have fired directly at each other. It's a contrast with Russia which keeps blustering about huge nuclear devastation, fighting all of NATO and no-one can defeat it.  But the stakes are raised with US missiles going 300km into Russian territory.  We slowly adjust to more serious war by these escalations. What more can Putin offer to go higher?  It will be related to the new US missiles and so more acceptable to the Russian population. It's becoming a personal Biden-Putin brawl.

Thank all of the gods that thus far, Iran has shown far more restraint and diplomacy than Israel have.

Israel are CLEARLY agitating for sector wide war (so as to keep Bibi out of jail) that they're getting well brazen.

I personally think the rest of the world has much to thank Iran for, right about now. And yes, i'm aware what that means.
