Wakanyeja - this is the moon of your soul looking down the river towards the time of the deep snow.. it tells you to prepare your tepee for Winter... to stock your food larder ..... to smoke the flesh of the bison and secure the fat for lighting and warm fires ....to ensure that you have warm clothing and good moccasins and leggings .... prepare your horses for the coming cold time ... fatten them on the Greasy Grass and shelter them as old family friendsin a warm and dry place with fodder for them ... always remember these things when the moon in August is unusual... it means a cold, cold winter and a wise warrior is prepared.

Damn I miss Grahame Greene....

Weeds one of the favourite drugs of the cope-o-sphere.

Just trying to cope

Just trying to numb the pain of my boring existence.

It's a marker for failures

The excellent Dr Andrew Huberman has several episodes on how it punches Swiss cheese holes in the brain.

Like a self administered lobotomy for people who can't embrace the challenges of life

The Effects of Cannabis (Marijuana) on the Brain & Body | Huberman Lab Podcast #92

Oct 3, 2022  Huberman Lab

In this episode, I discuss cannabis (aka marijuana), including the biological mechanisms underlying its effects on the mind and body, its known medical applications, its impact on libido, creativity, hunger, hormones and more. I also cover the known adverse health consequences of chronic and even acute (one-time) use and the factors that determine if cannabis is helpful or harmful. Additionally, I detail how the various strains of cannabis: sativa, indica and hybrid strains, can produce such divergent effects depending on the strain type, THC-to-CBD ratio, total dosage, and frequency of use. I review why cannabis can impact speech patterns and one’s propensity to develop anxiety/depression during and after use and, in some individuals, paranoia. As the legal landscape for cannabis is rapidly evolving, this episode should interest a wide audience, including former/current cannabis users, those in the medical, sports, law enforcement, and educational communities and, of course, children, teenagers, and parents.

Not a medical doctor - he has a Ph.D.

So, Should You Trust Andrew Huberman?

The wildly popular podcaster and scientist claims he can help you live a healthier life. But we should think of him as a Dr. Oz type.

We live in a world of misinformation and fearmongering. Headlines bombard us with claims about cancer, chronic illness, the dangers of our food, “toxins.” Health anxiety seems to be at an all-time high.

Enter Andrew Huberman. He has a Ph.D. in neuroscience, with research expertise in optic nerve signaling. His wildly popular podcast claims to make science more understandable while giving you simple, “zero-cost” protocols for your health. The appeal Huberman offers is obvious: control over our health when it feels like we have none.

In reality, his podcast is focused on pseudoscience: He often makes claims that appear scientific but lack evidence, plausibility, and validity. Pseudoscience presents unsubstantiated conclusions, but it can be incredibly hard to distinguish from conclusive evidence. It contains grains of truth, but those grains of truth are exaggerated beyond the point of usefulness, even so far as to lead away from the truth. Huberman fills his podcast with confident displays of pseudoscience, topped with the appeal to authority he garners by regularly repeating his academic credentials to gain your trust.

Perfect 👍 — here’s a clear side-by-side comparison of MRI findings for short-term (acute) vs long-term (chronic) marijuana use:

---

🧠 MRI Evidence: Marijuana and the Brain

🔹 Short-term (acute use) — within hours of consumption

(mostly fMRI and blood flow studies)

Increased blood flow to the frontal cortex, temporal lobes, and cerebellum (linked to altered perception, coordination, and attention).

Altered functional connectivity in the default mode network (DMN) → explains mind-wandering, introspection, and “time distortion.”

Striatum activity changes → altered reward sensitivity, “high” feeling.

Cerebellum overactivation → impaired motor control and coordination.

Memory disruption → hippocampus shows reduced efficiency during short-term recall tasks.

Emotional regulation → heightened amygdala reactivity, making users more sensitive to stimuli.

👉 Most of these acute effects resolve once the drug wears off.

---

🔹 Long-term (chronic or heavy use) — weeks, months, years

(mostly structural MRI & DTI)

Grey matter reduction in:

Hippocampus → weaker memory formation.

Orbitofrontal cortex → impaired decision-making and planning.

Amygdala → emotional regulation changes.

White matter integrity changes (shown by DTI):

Especially in the corpus callosum and fronto-limbic tracts, reducing brain region communication efficiency.

Functional changes:

Altered default mode network (DMN) connectivity even at rest.

Prefrontal cortex shows compensatory hyperactivation during tasks (working harder to achieve normal performance).

Reward system dampening → chronic users show less striatal response to natural rewards (food, social interaction), tied to amotivation in some.

Age of onset effect:

Adolescents/young adults show stronger structural changes than adults who begin later.

Reversibility:

Some functional and blood flow changes improve after 2–3 months of abstinence.

Structural changes (e.g., hippocampal volume loss) appear more persistent but may partially recover with long abstinence.

---

✅ Summary in one line:

Short-term MRI findings = blood flow and connectivity changes that explain being high (distorted time, memory lapses, motor effects).

Long-term MRI findings = structural shrinkage and white matter changes in memory, motivation, and decision-making areas, especially with heavy/early use

You seem confused.

I haven't made any claims.

I see why you like this scam artist though:

Whatever that is.

I think if huberman was not being factual. His position at the prestigious Stamford medical school would be in jeopardy.

Maybe we could get dr Carl to comment.
