I went sober July 4th, since I woke up on the floor of the loungeroom on July 3rd, having had a mini stroke. Decided to go sober from then onwards. Made it to August sometime in the first week, when I just started drinking beers only. From then onwards, I decided that July 3rd will be my sobriety day, where I go sober for 4 weeks (28 days). August 1st is when I can decide whether to drink or not. People want me to go 5 weeks sober. But, this previous month of July was such a tough time for me that I won't be going sober for more than 4 weeks, unless I break the habit.
It will be another reason why I respect July 4th.
Hi Unsub,
I have found alcohol has never helped me resolve any trouble.
' ....... unless I break the habit. ...... ' - yes it is a habit.
I found many alternatives to drinking helped to give me better habits.
Herbal teas, gardening, weights, bridge, yoga, cycling.
Anything at all. Have at least 4 alternatives ready to call upon whenever you want.
Maybe jigsaw puzzles, sudoku, crosswords, reading .
Anything.
