I have seen a few damaged by harder drugs and many many harmed by alcohol.
Many DV cases and many violent deaths occur where alcohol is present, many car crashes where alcohol is present, many fetal alcohol syndrome cases, many families are torn apart where alcohol is present.

Give someone rum or vodka and they fight .
Give them pot and they form a band.

Alcohol is a really bad drug.

I am not saying pot is beneficial.
Exercising or taking up dancing/learn a new language/art is beneficial.
Pot is not beneficial. It's not a big bad monster though

That's a very 'northern hemisphere' view of recognising it or are you neglecting to mention that the vast majority of Pot uses react violently by 'mental abuse'? They might not physically fight, but their 'reaction' is purely 'suicide' and pray that you don't get dragged down with them for some deserve it and it is those that think other's should deserve it too. You can see the vicious circle in those who do Pot, although many also suffer suicide for no other reason but their own and in isolation - prefer not to drag other's down with them. You obviously lacked the sight to see them, thus they are lost to you.
