A brand new day
Apr 15th, 2024 at 7:50pm

Quote:
‘A great heart’: Sydney’s Ahmadiyya Muslim community mourn Faraz Tahir, killed in Bondi knife attack

The Pakistani citizen – who fled religious persecution to settle in Australia – was working his first day shift as a security guard at Westfield Shopping Centre

Security guard Faraz Tahir has been remembered as a tireless charity volunteer after his death in a mass stabbing at Bondi Junction on Saturday prompted a review of protection for shopping centre security.

“He had a great heart. He was really grateful to be part of this community, to make Australia home,” Adnan Qadir, Tahir’s friend, said.

Tahir’s death while working his first daytime shift at Westfield Bondi Junction has prompted a review of New South Wales’ tight restrictions on equipment available for security guards.

“We’re reviewing the restrictions in place, except in relation to firearms,” NSW premier, Chris Minns, said on Monday.

Tahir, a 30-year-old Pakistani citizen had fled religious persecution in his home country and sought refuge in Australia, first arriving in Brisbane in December 2022 before moving to Sydney last year.

“[Tahir] was really excited that Australia had afforded him religious freedom, and his way of giving back was through a lot of volunteer work,” Qadir said.

Qadir, the president of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Australia’s youth organisation, said Tahir took every opportunity to volunteer for charities, including taking part in Clean Up Australia Day in March.

He last saw Tahir on Thursday at the Sydney Ahmadiyya community’s Eid celebration, only two days before he was stabbed by 40-year-old Joel Cauchi.

“He was helping people with parking their cars, helping elderly people to make their ways,” he said.

“No matter how hard things were, he was always there to take time out and give back to community.”

A national blood donation drive has been launched by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Australia and the Red Cross “in honour of his sacrifice”, a spokesperson said.

The high commission of Pakistan in Australia on Monday paid tribute to Tahir’s “immense bravery”.

“Mr Tahir was a beloved member of the Pakistani community,” deputy high commissioner, Ayesha Saeed, said. “He was a dedicated individual who lost his life while trying to save others.”

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community held a vigil outside Westfield Bondi Junction on Sunday evening to pray and commemorate the innocent lives lost during Cauchi’s rampage. Ashlee Good, Dawn Singleton, Jade Young, Pikria Darchia and Yixuan Cheng have been identified as the other victims.

“When we were thinking about having a vigil, we realised that if it was Faraz … he would like it to be where all Australian communities are, to grieve and mourn for everyone’s loss,” Qadir said.

Tahir worked a series of jobs before getting his security licence, when he began working night shifts at numerous Sydney locations. He was working his first day shift at Bondi Junction shopping centre when he was fatally stabbed.

He was an Ahmadi and 'considered as non-Muslims by many mainstream Muslims since they consider Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the movement, to be the promised Mahdi and Messiah awaited by the Muslims'.
The real messiah is Holy Don the Maga Felon and death came at Bondi from a millenial Christian.

Bondi 'bollard heroes' describe face-off with killer in Westfield: 'He wasn't there'
French natives Damien Geurot and Silas Despreaux – dubbed the 'bollard heroes' – had just arrived at the centre on Saturday when Joel Cauchi launched his attack.

Two "absolute heroes" who risked their lives to try and block Bondi Junction mass murderer Joel Cauchi from stabbing more victims have described the harrowing moment they came face to face with the "empty-eyed" killer.

French natives Damien Geurot and Silas Despreaux had just arrived at the centre on Saturday when the horrifying attack unravelled. The duo, both tradies, spared no thought for their own safety when they sprung into action, attempting to block Cauchi with bollards from his killing spree.

The pair are among several members of the public and security staff who risked their lives on the day and likely prevented more victims of the crazed killer, who was eventually shot dead by lone NSW Police officer Amy Scott.

I just thought, we need something to catch him," Geurot said. "We didn't think, you cannot think in that moment — it's just like adrenaline.  His eyes were like empty eyes, he wasn't there."

Despite his incredible bravery, Despreaux, who joined his mate in trying to fight back against the knifeman, told the network; "I'm not going to lie, I was scared.  But you cannot just stay away and not do anything," he said. "He was just determined to kill people."

Just so, Greggery. Faraz came to our country and took on a job to help keep us safe.

He was stabbed to death by an Aussie in a Wallabies jersey.

First day on the job.

He died responding and protecting ordinary people like us.

most security guards - such as those ones you see loitering out the front of woolworths and coles - are hired to bring down insurance premiums, not to actually provide security. in fact they are explicitly told to not engage anyone in violent situations like this or attempt to apprehend shoplifters at all. it's an entirely artificial phenomenon that's only made possible due to sketchy security contractors who offer up underpaid migrants who in exchange get permanent residency or work rights at the end of it as part of the package deal. i don't recall ever seeing security guards in australia to the extent that you do now  prior to around ~2016 or so.

He provided NO security. Nor his mate, now in hospital.

These security guards prove to be totally useless. It's a do **** all job. I have never seen a shopping centre security guard I would trust to provide any security. And so it proved in this instance.

Useless.

I don't know about you, but a first day on the job is generally about getting aquainted with the workplace. Toilets, fire exits, time sheets, expectations, code of conduct, etc.

Where do you work?

the only purpose of these roles is to bring down the supermarket insurance premiums and provide legal liability. they are not supposed to engage in this kind of behaviour at all - i've seen shoplifters just walk out with trolleys full of sh1t and the security guards just stood there and let them.

stuff that requires real security - like embassies, armoured cars, casinos etc have armed security guards that are actually tough and will f_ck you up if you instigate trouble.

Their job is to watch and report - they have no powers of arrest over and above that of ordinary citizens.

I used to work with a company run by two ex-Commandos - that was different...

Indeed he did. He just graduated from security guard college.

First day on the job. With his bare hands.

So, a white aussie killed a Muslim?

Oh dear   Sad

What are you on about, ...

A white aussie killed an innocent Muslim man in Bondi on the weekend.

I'm pretty sure it's been on the news.

Well, a swarthy killed a Muslim security guard who provided no security.

He died during his first day on the job.

He provided NO security. Nor his mate, now in hospital.

These security guards prove to be totally useless. It's a do **** all job. I have never seen a shopping centre security guard I would trust to provide any security. And so it proved in this instance.

Useless.

the only purpose of it is to bring down the supermarket insurance premiums and provide legal liability. they are not supposed to engage in this kind of behaviour at all - i've seen shoplifters just walk out with trolleys full of sh1t and the security guards just stood there and let them.

Well, not after incidents like this, proving 'security guards' to be totally useless or even liabilities.

Somebody is going to sued for not providing a safe workplace for a security guard.

No, we're here to honour him, his first day. Faraz Tahir gave his life to save others.

Say his name.

I agree, Setanta. Faraz came to our country, trained and got a job. A number of posters here say this is a bad thing.

We shouldn't have people come here to fill vacant jobs, they say. They steal jobs from Aussies.

And yet, those who say this are either immigrants themselves, retired, unemployed, on disability pensions or living overseas, taking foreigners' jobs.

They do, Setanta. A refugee came to our country, got a job and got stabbed to death. We offered him a brand new start.

Ultimately, we couldn't help with that, but we don't have to trash his memory. We're free to say his name, no?

Well, he wasn't providing security.
He probably thought the job was to walk around in a uniform.

TWO Pakistani security guards were stabbed, six people killed, another  18 injured.
It took a policewoman and two French guys to confront the bozo.

If he stood up to the knifer, he was providing security. He may not have succeeded but if he was not trying to provide that security and ran away, I dare say he may be alive today. There is no evidence to doubt he acted to put himself in the way. That he didn't succeed in taking him down is not a dishonour to him, just as it's not a dishonour for any of our servicemen that have paid the same price but never succeeded to overcome their foe themselves.

The Ahmadis are considered deviant heretical non muslims in Pakistan.

Quote:
Pakistan: Surge in Targeted Killings of Ahmadis

Pakistani authorities should urgently and impartially investigate a surge in violent attacks on members of the Ahmadiyya religious community, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) said today. The authorities should take appropriate legal action against those responsible for threats and violence against Ahmadis.

Successive Pakistani governments have failed to protect the human rights and security of the Ahmadiyya community. The penal code explicitly discriminates against religious minorities and targets Ahmadis by prohibiting them from “indirectly or directly posing as a Muslim.” Ahmadis are banned from declaring or propagating their faith publicly, building mosques, or making the Muslim call for prayer.

The authorities arbitrarily arrest, detain, and charge Ahmadis for blasphemy and other offenses because of their religious beliefs. The police have often been complicit in harassment and bringing fabricated charges against Ahmadis or have not intervened to stop anti-Ahmadi violence. The government’s failure to address religious persecution of Ahmadis has facilitated violence against them in the name of religion.

The Pakistani government also promotes discriminatory practices against Ahmadis. For example, all Pakistani Muslim citizens applying for passports are obliged to sign a statement explicitly stating that they consider the founder of the Ahmadi community an “imposter,” and consider Ahmadis to be non-Muslims.

Having worked in security you're nothing more than a visual deterrent you don't have any real legal power to do anything

Security guards can be charged with assault.

It wasn't always like this i recall police telling me it's ok to take them out the back and bash the crap out of them times have changed.

I had a security guard as my next door neighbor once.
He was in awful trouble in court after he punched a drunk only once who had punched him first.
The drunk was knocked unconsciousness and nearly died.
The cops charged my neighbor with grievous bodily harm.
I'm not sure of the outcome as I moved soon after.

Well he did escape his country because he was GAY !!!
Coming here to OZ
GAY
LIA where its safe and he wouldn't feel persecuted and attacked.

So he got a job where, like many jobs - the first day is the hardest and he got a disgrunted customer straight up like a Palestinian upset that the Plaza was run and owned by Jews.

Of course there are those who would have been angry at the sight of this man and his sickly shuffle of endorphined numbness for he himself was 'at peace' with his killing, knowing he was going to die because of it. They would have taken him out quite viciously and effectively - if given the chance. Just a pure 'reflex' action of knowing 'that violence'.
Fear is the Mind Killer and most wouldn't be able to think fast enough and thus - faced with the 'impossible', many hesitated, were confused, stunned and of course - scared of the 'legal' repercussions if they did anything at all.

Do you think Israeli people would have stopped him far earlier and more effectively?

They do, Setanta. A refugee came to our country, got a job and got stabbed to death. We offered him a brand new start.

Ultimately, we couldn't help with that, but we don't have to trash his memory. We're free to say his name, no?

What makes you imagine that people here haven't been praising his efforts?

Chip on the shoulder?  Is that what's behind all the snide remarks over the years that you thought were so funny and I always thought you were joking about...... just your soft underbelly of an inferiority complex?  Shoe on the other foot not so good, eh?

No more snide remarks about yabbying that I described as an outstanding skill of this bloke... and on you went forever as if I'd said that was all he was good for....

Life ain't fair.... so try to be fair to others.

Now - SHOW us who's trashing his memory?  Or is that another thing all in your head, like yabbying smart comments?

The Ahmadis are considered deviant heretical non muslims in Pakistan.

so that means he had to move to australia specifically did it? no safe countries between here and pakistan?

That'll require some thought - I'd say none that were particularly accepting of Muslim Pakis... they've killed Indians ad Banglas and Sris - I doubt the Thais or Viets or Cambos want them.... Malaysia is a bit funny and parochial... Indonesia is mostly a dangerous shot-hole full of sects that hate one another.... NuGinnee the natives eat you if the Karpassus don't shoot you....

I guess it was here or Nu Zulland....

Now we here online - how are we supposed to 'say' his name?  Yell through the computer?  Poor old Karnie is being sensitive for a change - and it hurts apparently.   Huh

OMG - where's Smith and Laugher and mothra?  Swept up in the non-sweep following this non-conspiracy event or something?   Sitting in a cold cell at Gondwanamo waiting to find out why they are there?  What do those faceless security people have on them this time?

Didn't have a rope or a telegraph pole close enough....  these are Assyrian Christians - they hold different views from other Christians...

Well maybe there will be riots, maybe not.

The reason the Cronulla Riots whipped up 10,000 to belt any bloke who looked like an Arab-Moslem, was because it had nothing to do with 'Christianity' - it was something 'new' to Moslems: bashing a Surf-lifesaver on a beach by Moslems was worse than attacking Christians.

The Cronulla Riots presented a 'new' attack against Moslems. They were so confused and lost against this 10,000 Cronulla onslaught - they started attacking Christian Churches (Vandalism, bullet holes) as it was basically all that they 'knew' really to justify everything in their Moslem existence and right to commit violence.

...getting their arses kicked by a 'culture' of people who prioritised the 'Ocean' way of life over any 'Religion', kinda scared and shook them up a bit.
Even the Police and Media had to rig up 'fake Riot Leaders' to publicly bring them down as if they now had 'control' on the Riots. The Police and Media couldn't cope with Australians going 'free-for-all' beyond their Political and Media narrative 'control'.  Grin

Well I doubt he got himself knifed running away. That's enough for me.

Well said Set.
I doubt he and the other security guard had knife wounds to their backs running away.

Either way kudos to him.

Faraz, 30, they won't say his name.

It was his first day on the job.

Faraz, like many others from different parts of the world, are actually brought in for work many don’t want to do. Most prefer to have a job working from home on the computer whilst wearing pyjamas.

Where my husband works, desperately need mechanics… for quite some time, and hubby and a couple others being old school mechanics were under the pump as no one comes forth.
Why?
I’ve seen this sign of an unfilled  job position in my locality for over 6 months now “apprentice mechanic wanted”
Now back to where hubby works… huge place, many vehicles…. so few mechanics….
Then necessarily a couple years of red tape and $25,000 payment for each mechanic to come over from the Phillipines. Now the company has 6 of these imported amazing mechanics. Big sigh of relief. They are excellent workers and show a lot of gratitude for acceptance into this “lucky” country.

Tradies, they get the job done, physically pro-active, keep the wheels of Oz moving. Without which, the country would come to a standstill.

Even the 2 frenchies that faced the knife wielding perp were tradies.
Pro active tradies. Fit, young, strong….and brave. And why not give them permanent residency here in Oz?

He was working his first day shift at Bondi Junction shopping centre when he was fatally stabbed.

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2024/apr/15/bondi-knife-attack-sydney...

Meanwhile an Assyrian Christian Bishop has been stabbed 4 times and another man also stabbed inside a church in Fairfield.

Wonder who would do that?

Might the Pakistani guy be here because he was gay? .... his Muslim mates back home would more than likely throw him from the top of a tall building for that.

I'm not sure I believe he was a refugee from religious persecution because his Ahmadiyya Islamic sect follows the 5 Pillars of Islam, 6 Articles of Faith and Prophet Muhammad, the same as the others.

Ahmadi Muslims also follow the Islamic sources of guidance and jurisprudence – which is sourced from three main authorities:

The Holy Qur’an;

The Sunnah (practice of the Holy Prophet) and

The Hadith (sayings of the Holy Prophet as given in the authentic books of Hadith such as Sahih Al Bukhari, Sahih Al Muslim, Sunan Abu Daud,Tirmidhi, Ibne Maja and Nisai.

The key difference is that Ahmadi Muslims believe that the Promised Messiah (also referred to as the Mahdi in some texts) of the latter days has arrived and he established the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in 1889.
It is a revivalist movement that has no new religious laws or teachings as it seeks to rejuvenate the true Islam as taught by the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

Other Muslims are still waiting for a reformer to come.

So the difference between them Sunni & Shia is negligible. If anything this sect could be more fundamentalist.

Why are you rat-bag Musso lovers making this about his religion?

Little bit of the old pot stirring?  Is there a point to this stupidity?

So what if he's a Musso minority gay puncher from Pakistan where the worst Mussos come from - even into Afghanistan?

Show me where someone went at him for being another stinking Musso?  The suggestion was - and valid given the 'look' - that the killer could be a Musso taking after 'Jews' because of his build, colouring, hair and beard and method of attack.

First day on the job, first day of the rest of his life. You acknowledge the sheer, senseless tragedy of that, yes?

Why are you just focusing on Faraz Tahir?

6 others died & more wounded ..... 2 other Frenchmen tried to slow him down.

Are you dirty they didn't make the ultimate sacrifice like Faraz?

So are they any less heros for surviving?

Female copper took him out ... what about her effort?

Tell that bullshit to the 51 Muslims murdered by a terrorist in Christchurch.

Stick to the subject at hand.... you are obsessed.  get over Trump and Christchurch - from which latter I recall not a single word of support for Tarrant other than that such an event, given the numerous incidents BY Muslims worldwide - was inevitable.

It WAS inevitable at some time.... and still could happen if Mussos are allowed to get away with other vile acts.

Yet except that they believe their reformer is already here & the others don't there's no difference in their belief.

We feel so bad for his family and his friends. We're so sorry this happened to a such a good man, with so much hope and promise.

We're not talking about the Christchurch Murderer... is a revenge attack an act of terror?

We need to review this carefully:-

Definition of terrorism in Australian law
5.5

Terrorism in Commonwealth law is defined as an act or threat that is intended to:

advance a political, ideological or religious cause; and
coerce or intimidate an Australian or foreign government or the public (or section of the public ), including foreign public.

Not our fault that Albo snuck through.... I blame the Immigration people and Al Grasby (The Spiv) ... YOU?

Let's be honest - things have only gone downhill since he arrived here......

I think you're rather underestimating the role of the Fraser government, dear. They're the ones who discovered all those Cold War emigres from the Soviet Bloc tended to vote Liberal.

Of course, immigration was totally bipartisan up until Howard and Reith made stuff up about moms throwing their kiddies overboard, remember?

Despicable stuff, no?

You feel for his family, am I right?

As JC said, if he never came here he never would died this way.

First day on the job, first day of the rest of his life. You acknowledge the sheer, senseless tragedy of that, yes?

Why are you just focusing on Faraz Tahir?

This is a thread about the security guard who lost his life on his first day-shift.

Thus, it seems apt to be focusing on Faraz Tahir as he's the security guard who lost his life on his first day-shift.

This thread is this, this thread is that .....

This thread is about a migrant to our country who was slain on his first day shift. The beginning of a new day, a new life.

We feel so bad for his family and his friends. We're so sorry this happened to a such a good man, with so much hope and promise.

You?

Such feigned melodramatics.

You don't know a single thing about him albeit that he's a Pakistani immigrant and it was his first day on the job.

That doesn't put him on a platform above a single person who also were killed or injured.

A nine month old baby was stabbed 3 times in the stomach .... it's not out of the woods yet. Angry

rubbish, if he had done something to try to stop the killer and was killed in the process that would make his situation different from someone getting randomly killed

Woman dies from health drink. A victim of the Mahommed Mushroom Mosque, she was attacked by the Mullah Imam type mushroom. A clergyman went down to a mushroom beef-wellington and now terror strikes. Local garden-gnomes of Middle East appearance are being questioned with no right to remain silent.

Islamic mushrooms (peace be upon them, RIP) are best finely chopped, diced and hammered. Saute' in French Crusader champagne and explode with plastic hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine. Die for the cause! That's not a knife.

Sure thing Terrorist lover.
He's a Moslem - that means he's a Terrorist as all Moslems exhibit proudly their 'group' mentality in unison and don't condemn the Terrorist actions of their own kind. Rarely will you see one stand up against it 'formerly and officially' (in fear of their lives).
So therefore - he's a Terrorist and he got a dose of his own medicine.
No sympathy from me. Tough luck.
Move along, nothing to see here folks.

He's an immigrant, actually. We welcomed him into our country with open arms. Sure, we said, come join our rich, multicultural tapestry.

To think this is the type we've let in. Unbelievable.

But no, we won't truck with any violence, Chimera. This would be unthinkable. We're above such tactics.

We're Aussies.

Actually have no idea WTF you are talking about.... you that is.... who said anything against the Paki guard here?  I didn't see it.... any references to Islamites was with regard to the appearance of Clarrie Woodridge from Lightning Ridge.... the knife killer asshole who looked just like a Musso for his false flag op....  Joey Moomba from Toowoomba...

If they hadn't wanted a white-eye scapegoat this time, they'd have chosen someone who was an actual Musselman... easy to find those... but if this guy had gotten away and that lady cop hadn't gunned him down for ID. .... it would have been "Mad Musso Strikes Bondi J!  Horrendous knife attack kills seven and wounds baby!"

Clearly she was not in the loop for this black op to start the war to end all wars.... bring on the demand to round up the Usual Suspects and deposit them all in Gondwanamo Bay ....

BTW .... where's Smithy and mothra and laughing boy?  Swept up in the the aftermath of this conspiracy attack?  Under interrogation.... in a quiet place?  Footsteps in the hollow sounding corridor outside... will they stop at this door... or move on...... tick... tock... tick.... tock .... is Pill next on the list???  I wonder....  Karnal?  Or too hard to ID in the crowd out there... all look like cousins or something.... probably all brothers and sisters...good thing about being a Musso is you can introduce your mother and your sister all at the one time... and your dad and your uncle too .... it's not that complicated ....

We do. JC said just that. We're inviting in all these Pakistani security guards, he said, where were they at Westfields?

There they are, we said. He was one of the first killed. First day shift on the job, first day of the rest of his life.

Faraz Tahir. Can you say his name?

Imagine, we have members here who celebrate his murder.

We have sent in flowers. From all over our city, people have spontaneously delivered them to Bondi Junction mall in person.

That's just the kind of people we are.

You dig yourself in worse with every post you make. You're almost as bad as the cactus-rapist. Thing is, I doubt you'll find too many friends.

Sure, perhaps Gonads and the old boy want to agree with you, but they have a semblance of civilised decorum to not. You're out on your own JaSin. Do you know?

You've surprised even me, and I'm an experienced poster here, I've seen it all.

Your views here take the cake.

They are the unsung heroes of the Bondi Junction Westfield stabbings, and one of them paid for his bravery with his life – but there has been no “bollard man” offer of permanent residency to the wounded survivor, Pakistani security guard Muhammad Taha.

When Mr Taha and colleague Faraz Tahir confronted knife-wielding Joel Cauchi as he began a murderous rampage at the shopping centre on Saturday, Mr Tahir was stabbed to death and Mr Taha was badly wounded.

Yet unlike the recognition for Frenchman Damien Guerot, there has been no prime ministerial offer to Mr Taha - whose graduate visa is due to expire in less than a month – to stay in Australia “for as long he likes”.

In his first interview since being stabbed on Saturday, Mr Taha told The Australian from his hospital bed that the two men had been together when they saw people running “Faraz moved to assess the situation and to save the people; all of a sudden the guy came out.

“Faraz confronted him and was stabbed. After that, he jumped on me. I tried to defend but got stabbed,” Mr Taha said. “I informed (other security staff) on radio regarding the situation.”

Mr Taha said he was on a subclass 476 visa – a “skilled … recognised graduate visa” – and it was expiring within a month.

“Another individual, using a bollard, bravely attempted to stop the attacker and was subsequently offered residency by the Australian Prime Minister due to his courageous actions,” Mr Taha said.

“Similarly, as a direct victim of the incident, I believe I deserve recognition and consideration for citizenship.  As well, the guards working alongside came running towards the point of incident and risking their lives … (they) should be offered citizenship as well.”

Ahhh the old "If"?????

knifed and dead is knifed and dead & that makes none of the victims situation any different from the other.

So what did he actually do?

Wrestle with the bloke to try and get the knife off him?????

Or simply walked up to him to tell him that he would be in trouble & to stop it?....

and got knifed for his trouble.

You're just guessing.

‘A great heart’: Sydney’s Ahmadiyya Muslim community mourn Faraz Tahir, killed in Bondi knife attack

So he comes from the sect of Islam that all other muslims want to kill.
Fascinating.

That's the joke about Islam & it's sects ... they all hate each other .... Sunnis vs Shias vs AAhmadiyya.

Yet the only real difference is the Ahmadiyya believe their redeemer has already arrived and the others are still waiting for theirs....

other than that they believe the exact same things.

Feigned? The Bondi Junction Mall is lined with flowers. No one's feigning a thing, dear.

This thread was added to counter a nasty little rumour started by you-know-who.

Yes there was more than one victim.

Were you there to see exactly how Faraz Tahir died?

Unless you were you don't know anything more about him than you do the other victims.

And I'm not talking about his job description.

Really? I don't need your backhanded compliments.

Sorry? Are you saying he didn't come to our country, get a job and die on his first day shift?

Are you trying to deny the basic facts here?

Are you trying to suggest, like JaSin, that the death of a guest in our country wqas somehow a good thing?
